5.0 out of 5 stars Tornadoes, Tornadoes and more Tornadoes!!!, September 1, 2004
A Kid's Review
Wow! With the way I see it, it looks like the images with what the videographers put down were majestic and deadly. The tornado I thought was the most unbelivable, it's gotta be the Andover, KS Tornado! Like DRAGONFLY TV ( A show that has real kids and science on NJN)this video really taught me on WHAT TO DO DURINg A TORNADO! You have got to see it to belive it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but I could recommend a better video on tornadoes, December 25, 2000

I bought a copy of Tornadoes!! The Entity because quite a few people bought it according to Amazon.com, but I have to confess that after watching it, I could recommend better videos to watch on Tornadoes. I have watched Tornadoes!! The Entity at least twice, and each time I have watched it, I have fallen asleep at least once. Better videos on tornadoes I could recommend include Tornado Video Classics I, II, or III (I have all 3 of them and recommend any or all of them) or other good videos I would recommend include Nova/Tornado! or National Geographic Video/Cyclone! Why is this? Because Tornadoes!! The Entity's presentation is boring with too much narration and not as many tornadoes as Tornado Video Classics I, II, or III. I have only fallen asleep watching Tornado Video Classics Volume III but even that video is far better than Tornadoes!! The Entity. The Tornado Video Classics videos entertain as well as teach and are edited well to keep the tornadoes frightening and entertaining at the same time. I think watching tornadoes is similar to going on a roller coaster. There is a fascination about getting close to death, but not ever getting too close. There is a desire to to seek a thrill, but not at the expense of one's life. Now I live in Wilmington, North Carolina so since 1996 I have seen my fair share of hurricanes and would not ever be interested in watching any lengthy videos on hurricanes. They are a nuisance at the least, and a potential killer at the most, so I'm sure people who live near where tornadoes occur might wonder why people could get so interested in tornadoes, but I find them fascinating because of that interest in getting close to death, but not touching it. As for a video that gets me to experience somewhat what a tornado is, I don't think Tornadoes!! The Entity does it. I think a person would be far better advised to purchase the Tornado Video Classics series (either I, II, or III or all of them together) and find their excitement there. And if they are still interested after that point, I would recommend the other following videos: National Geographic Cyclone! and Nova Tornado!

3.0 out of 5 stars Lots to look At! Annoying Audio., February 20, 2004
By Wayne Hollyoak (West Virginia) - See all my reviews
I think i was a little spoiled after watching "Twister: Fury on the Plains" so many times. "The Entity" wasn't nearly as captivating and awe inspiring. Entity uses lots of wierd "mood" music -which tries to mimic tornado sound i guess. During some clips the tornado audio fades to strange music or the audio gets louder as the photographer zoom in on a tornado. I found the audio annoying and distracting. Personally, i find the audio of these storms as fascinating as the visual. "Fury" shines way above this compilation in that regard. Entity's visual quality is much cleaner and detailed unlike Fury's home video footage.

Fury has the only footage i've every seen of a multivortex passover and it HAS THE AUDIO- by far the most fascinating storm clip i've ever seen. Entity's footage is all at a safe distance.

Entity might have rated a 4 if the music was left out and real storm sounds were left in, that for me was the biggest disappointment. Fury leaves this video in the dust especially the way it contrasts the hypnotic beauty of the storms with the extreme energy and danger they pose. Both films have informative narration, but Entity's is not intimate with the storms in the way Fury's is. Fury's footage is mainly home video with lots of candid comments coming from bystanders which often starts cashual and curious, but may become frightening and chaotic in an instant. Entity lacks this unscripted commentary entirely.

All in all, glad it's in my storm video collection for the visual quality and variety of footage.
