Product Description
A ten-year cumulation of TRAVERSO, the newsletter for players and students of early flutes.
From the Back Cover
TRAVERSO is a quarterly newsletter for people interested in the history of the flute and flute-playing.
In its first ten years of publication, 1989-98, it published forty articles on the flute in the baroque and classical periods, its repertoire, and performance practice, by expert authors including Janice Dockendorff Boland, Eberhard Dehne-Niemann, Catherine Folkers, Claire Fontijn, Jean-Christophe Frisch, Bruce Haynes, Leta E. Miller, Ardal Powell, Patricia M. Ranum, Jeanne Swack, and Jed Wentz. These articles provide historical information on the instrument and its builders, the music and its composers, and the lives and ideas of flutists in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, as well as suggesting how players of today can interpret this material and put it to use.
The book also contains a new bibliography of writings on the history of the flute and its music published in all languages during 1989-98, compiled by David Lasocki.
