2.0 out of 5 stars Helpful, but NOTTHE BEST, February 20, 2004
By "kelly_renee" (currently in Tuebingen, Germany... originally from San Diego, CA USA) - See all my reviews
I'm a student that is currently studying abroad (August 2003-August 2004). I bought this book about a month before I left and skimmed it. It's a pretty small book (only 69 pages) and didn't tell me much that I hadn't already learned from talking to previous students, going to the group orientation, and over-thinking every detail (as I normally do). I can say that this book is very clearly organized and easy to follow. I just feel that the content is lacking. I would recommend this book if you are *thinking* about studying abroad and haven't done much research. Personally by the time I acquired this book I had done a TON of research and this information was all things that I already knew. I recommend Dowell & Mirsky's "Study Abroad: How to Get the Most of Your Experience" for those of you who want lots of information to be prepared for anything!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for College Kids, November 24, 2002
By A Customer
If you have college aged sons or daughters, give them this book. It has everything they'll need to make the right decision about living and studying in another country. Michael Gallant's advice is clear, practical and down to earth and he never sugercoats the facts. He shares his love of travel and shows that study abroad can be an amazing, life changing opportunity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Reference for My Junior Year!, February 6, 2004
By A Customer
As a confused sophomore who is planning to go to some place in Western Europe next fall (and because I have to start planning for it NOW), this book was really the perfect starting point, so I'm totally glad my mother bought it for me this semester. It's not overwhelming in length, it breaks down all the necessary information, and the quotes from students throughout the book ease the stress I've been feeling and have allowed me to approach my decision in a smarter way.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book, but not good enough.
This book is short and useful, but not comprehensive. "Study Abroad for Dummies" is a much better book and is about five times as useful as this short book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ready to go!!!
I was a bit skeptical of this book's length, but now that I've read it, I can honestly say it's the best book that I've read on the subject. Read more
