When Martise James’s ex-husband Reggie refuses to visit or pay child support, she decides he is worth more to her dead than alive. She hires a hitman, but at the last minute she realizes that her thug doesn’t need to kill—he can "motivate" Reggie to pay when the courts won’t. As a result, Reggie begins showing up for regular visits, child-support check in hand. Martise's single-mother friends learn about her tactics and hire her to make the fathers of their own children act accordingly. Martise finds herself running the vigilante group Mothers Against Deadbeat Dads, but when the secret gets out, she is arrested and is confronted with the consequences of her actions.
