Diving accident or murder? That's what Verde Key police detective Bev Henderson tries to discover as she and the readers are pulled along in the undertow of this how-did-he-do-it mystery. As Bev relentlessly dredges for the truth, two escapees from a Carl Hiaasen or Tim Dorsey farce beat a slow tattoo--like the shark from "Jaws"--toward Verde Key and a gut-wrenching finale. Hope Bev sticks around for a lot more cases.

It is hard not to get hooked on Charlie's protagonist Bev Henderson.
She's a tough young detective that gets the job done.

Set in the Florida Keys, you feel the relaxed pace of island life, spiced up with the mystery and excitement of a murder investigation.

Charlie's personal experiences and research make this a very believeable adventure!

I'm a scuba diver. So, anything that can take me away from the cold Chicago winters and bring me back to Key Largo is a welcome read! She incorporates just enough technical aspects of scuba diving to appeal to the diver in me while bringing in elements of suspense and romance for the fun reader in me.
