5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, not perfect, but wonderful, May 4, 2004
This was the first cd I ever owned, my mom bought it for me for christmas the year it came out... and I listened to it constantly... I know every word of every song on the whole cd, and can recite them at will.. simply put, i love this cd... It's not a perfect compilation, as I later found out when I got more into the band and music in general, but I still love to listen to it. Or did... last week, I made the mistake of putting it in a soft cd holder alone in my bag... and it snapped in half... Honest to god, I sobbed when I found it... then I laughed because I was crying over a cd, then sobbed again because I loved it so much. Then I went to the shore and had service for it, no joke, and threw flowers into lake michigan and recited "Late Lament" as seemed proper... That was a hard day *tears up*... ^_^

This isn't the perfect album... but if you're just getting into the band, it's a great introduction, and if you've never owned a cd before (if you live on the moon), I recommend this as your first one ^_^

3.0 out of 5 stars Incomplete, July 18, 2002
"Story of" is more like the Table of Contents in that it is an inadequate anthology album. A mixture of songs from the band's late 60's/early 70's heyday and their early 80's "comeback" period, at only one dozen tunes, it misses plenty of highlights. For instance, the band's 1965 classic "Go Now," is nowhere to be seen. Neither are such gems as "Lovely to See You," "Never Comes a Day," "New Horizons," and "Watching and Waiting," to name a few. There is nothing wrong with the songs that were included here, there just aren't nearly enough of them to make this a representative collection.

2.0 out of 5 stars This Isn't The One You Want, February 3, 2004
By J. Reynolds (Houston, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This is not completely a collection of MB masterpieces -- at least two are re-makes, and are not as good as the originals. I fear buying an MB "greatest hits" album now: Will I be getting the originals, or jazzed-up remakes ?
