Product Description

As a member of Northeast-based band The Slip, Brad's guitar prowess has always been notable, but his true gifts and distinct musical voice are on full display throughout this solo guitar album. A heady set of original compositions is complimented by such diverse covers as "Maria La O" by legendary Cuban musician Ernesto Lecuona, Kurt Cobain's "Heart Shaped Box," and Le Trio Ferret's "Gin Gin." The introspective tone of the album recalls such overlooked loner guitar gems as Lenny Breau's Cabin Fever or Richard Crandell's In The Flower of Our Youth, whilst staking out a thoroughly modern approach to solo guitar here in the late `00's.

its best to listen to this disc late at night with headphones...brad plays guitar much differently than he does with his band the slip...its very mellow eitherial music. often melodic while still being moody. A great late night disc.

Listening to Eisenhower, The Slip's last album, one wouldn't necessarily know that Brad Barr is a virtuoso. This album serves as a reminder. Slip tunes from the late 90's were so much fun to listen to in part because of B-rad's crazy licks and fun, happy, major-tone harmonies. We get a lot of that in this album, along with some eerie stuff.

I only wish that he had sung on a few of these tracks. His voice has improved by volumes since early Slip days, and at least one of the songs on the album (Still Shiver)has really beautiful lyrics. Also songs left off, like Ooh Belle, have really great lyrics and amazing guitar parts.

Slip fans and guitar fans will not be disappointed!

the slip's brad barr creates a masterpiece on his debut solo album
simply put this album showcases the guitar virtuoso that is brad barr
between his amazingly original compositions (see Bouba's Bounce) and his creative take on cover tunes (see Heart Shaped Box) brad proves that he is one of the most talented guitarists of this generation
for all listeners who felt that the slip's latest record lacked guitar solos, get an ear-full of this album and you shall not be dissapointed
this long awaited solo album will surely fulfill all your listening needs and leave you longing for barr's next album
