This son of a Zion revival preacher mother was the first to prove that reggae's got soul; he may have even given the music its name. This latest offering in a long, illustrious career showcases Hibbert at his finest, riding the current ska craze like a mythic super-surfer coasting a tsunami wave. The 9-tune 3-dub version set launches promisingly with a rousing "skamatic" cover of the Kinks' "Really Got Me." The promise is kept throughout, but it's especially fun to hear Toots transform classics, like '70's ska anthem "Pressure Ska," into modernist pop party fodder. --Elena Oumano
