2 of 5 people found the following review helpful: Astounding, December 20, 2004 It is refreshing to read WWII memoirs that do not brush aside the Russians as robots or animals - a flaw found in most books written by German or Austrian veterans. Newton's presentation of Raus's writings is clean, concise and gives a solid overview of the eastern front.
