4.0 out of 5 stars A Classic of a previous age, January 23, 2007
By R. Bagula "Roger L. Bagula" (Lakeside, Ca United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
When I first read this I had no idea that he was starting
a type of writing that would catch on. Reading :"Archimedes' Revenge"
by Paul Hoffman, I realized that he was using the same techniques that Martin Gardner had.
One of Hoffman's examples is the same Möbius band in a new context.
The perfect numbers are also in both books as well as a section on
strange tiling effects. That the Harter -Heighway dragon was introduced
here as well makes the book a classic of the last age of mathematical innocence,
before mathematical genealogy took over.
