From Booklist

It is supposed to be happy times for Laura Caldwell and her husband, James Carter, in their Hawaiian paradise after they defeated corrupt Philadelphia politicians and the Mob. But her uncle Akhan has called the family back to Philadelphia. The trouble begins when someone shoots at Laura's cousin and gets worse as they travel east and have the Mob trailing their every move. No one is sure who is out to get them; they only know it involves Akhan's sons in Jamaica. Akhan severed ties many years ago, but his Jamaican brethren want land he owns for casinos on the Gulf coast. And so a battle ignites involving the Jamaicans, the mob, and corrupt politicians. Banks concludes her Trust series (Shattered Trust, 2006) with a bang, giving her fans a tension-filled, sensuous thriller and a dynamic and savvy African American heroine who is as tough as she is stylish. Engelmann, Patty

Product Description

Financial genius Laura Caldwell seems to have it all--beauty, brains, wealth, and love with her courageous husband, detective James Carter. But between nature's wrath and criminals who just won't give up, will these newlyweds ever have peace in their marriage?

Between bringing down Philadelphia's corrupt power brokers, surviving its mean streets, and recovering from a devastating natural disaster in the Cayman Islands, Laura and James are no strangers to danger. At last, they're ready to enjoy an idyllic retreat in Maui. But enemies of the past seem to have an endless appetite for revenge. This time it's Laura's Uncle Akhan whose life is being threatened--and Laura is in the line of fire as well. As the hits keep coming, with no clue to their source, it's all James can do to keep the woman he loves alive. And when a devastating truth is revealed, Laura and James know they must act quickly before their lives are shattered forever...

"Leslie Banks has done it again, this time with a gripping page-turner of revenge and retribution." --Chris Benson, author of Special Interest on Betrayal of the Trust

4.0 out of 5 stars Do We Have Some Trust?, September 14, 2007
By Chantay W. "BookLover4Life" (South Carolina) - See all my reviews

No Trust is the final book in the Betrayal of the Trust Series by Leslie Esdaile Banks and it does not disappoint.

Laura Caldwell and her family must fight yet another battle to gain the upper hand against those who want to see them come to harm. Enjoying their lives on a tropical island, they receive word from Akhan, Laura's uncle, that something is afoot and it is directed at the elderly man. These past enemies are out to gain from Akhan and his amassed assets, should he meet with a possible demise in the near future. The big trouble is Laura and the crew must find out exactly who the threats and hits are coming from in order to dodge the bullets, literally. Will Laura and her family be able to best their enemies or will someone truly beloved amongst them become a causality of this war?

No Trust was an incredible read! This is the last book in the series and boy did things go out with a bang. Leslie has managed to create a cast of characters that readers have grown with over the past couple of years. The cast of characters almost seem real and of course some readers will not be ready to part with them. Readers will not want anything to happen to the characters they have come to love in this series. The readers will want them to prevail against the enemy to live another day. No Trust is a mysterious and fast-paced story that readers will most certainly need to add to their mystery collection. This book is one I recommend to everyone along with the previous books in this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Who Can You Trust?, February 2, 2008
Leslie Esdaile Bank's final offering in the Betrayal of the Trust series, No Trust, revisits Laura Caldwell and her family. Laura receives a call from uncle Akhan beckoning the family to come to Philadelphia. Before the family arrives in Philly Laura's cousin, Jamal, has gotten himself into trouble that he just may not be able to get out of in time to return to see his father, Akhan. As things start to spin out of control, Laura must find some answers and find them quick before someone causes harm to the family. Will Laura be able to come up with a plan to save the family?

No Trust is a very entertaining novel. Throughout the story I tried to guess what would happen next and to my surprise something unexpected happened each time. This book is filled with mystery and held my attention to the very end. I recommend this to others who have read the Betrayal of the Trust series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Who Can You Turn To When There's No Trust?, August 28, 2007
By Urban-Reviews.com (Urban-Reviews.com) - See all my reviews

No Trust is the 4th book in the exciting and mysterious Trust Series. In this drama filled sequel to Shattered Trust, financial genius Laura Caldwell-Carter and her family are in Maui. They're finally enjoying some much needed and long awaited rest and relaxation. Their idyllic retreat is interrupted when Laura's uncle, Akhan, calls a face-to-face family meeting. At the meeting, Akhan lets the family know that some enemies from the past have come back into play. Laura has no clue as to which enemy from the past is threatening her uncle and possibly her family. Now, Laura must once again find the source of the threat and come up with a plan to neutralize the threat so that her family will be safe and finally be able to live their lives in peace.

I loved this book! The book had me going from the jump. Once again, Leslie Esdaile Banks weaves together an excellent story that is filled with mystery, mayhem and a few family twists that will capture your attention at the beginning, hold it hostage and won't let it go until the very end. This book is a must read to anyone who has read The Trust Series. For those who haven't read The Trust Series, I recommend that you read the series.
