5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Soy Cookery Book, April 13, 2000
By A Customer
Joy of Soy is perhaps the best soy cookery book available today. All the recipes I have tried are utterly delicious and, very important, most of the ingredient are easy to find. Cooking with soy from this book makes you want to prepare and eat soy products, not because of the health benefits but, because the food is terrific. The book is so well written that you can actually taste the recipes as you read them and there are suggestions for variations. Some of my favourites include: Red Curried Tofu, Wild Mushroom and Tofu Ragout, Nutty Mushroom Tofu Burger (so good that I double the recipe for freezing, my kids love them), Incendiary Thai kebabs, Miso Mashed Potatoes and Apple Cranberry Crumble. I could go on and on, but basically what I am trying to say is if ever there was a book which showed the potential of soy products and how tasty and diverse they can be, this must be it!

2.0 out of 5 stars The Joy of Soy, January 26, 2001
By Bridgette "bnsthilaire" (Phoenix, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
I found the recipes tasty, but there is no nutritional information for any of the recipes. I will probably not use this book very often because of this.

1.0 out of 5 stars No joy in soy-ville, April 26, 2004
By A Customer
I'm going to have to throw in a dissenting opinion here--I can't recommend this book because most soy foods are NOT REALLY GOOD FOR YOU! The only soy foods that are truly nutritious are the properly fermented ones: tempeh, miso, natto, shoyu and tamari. (A "Joy of Soy" cookbook built around these 5 only would be great!) ALL OTHER SOYFOODS contain numerous anti-nutrients...they just aren't good for you. My advice is to contact the Weston A. Price Foundation (www.westonaprice.org) and get a copy of "The Ploy of Soy," by Sally Fallon.
