A great book by a great visionary, September 22, 2003
Brian O'Leary is one of earth's most important visionaries. His adventurous path has roamed far and wide, and landed him in the middle of the critical problem that humanity faces today: its energy situation. To those who are familiar with the "let's ride bikes" solution of mainstream environmentalists and orthodox "alternative" energy practitioners, Brian's work is a horse of a different color. Brian has spent many years investigating alternative energy researchers and inventions, traveling the globe. His message is this: cheap or even free, non-polluting, renewable energy is just around the corner, if enough people care enough to help it along. The obstacles to making it happen are many, and long ago Brian realized that denial was the most common reaction to the possibility of free energy, and the scientific community was probably more deeply in its thrall than any other group. Brian is anything but a one-theme writer, and the solutions he proposes are in the comprehensivist tradition of Buckminster Fuller and the few others like him. Brian's goal is healing humanity and the planet. His book is a courageous and brilliant overview of the problems we face and the solutions that await use. I admit to a bias in reviewing this work. I am a fellow traveler and living evidence of the "suppression syndrome" that Brian writes so capably about: If you want a short, one-volume work on comprehensive solutions to humanity's most pressing issues, you can't do much better than Brian's book. The next step is doing something about it. Together, we can heal the planet.
