Editorial Reviews

Product Description
The fast-paced story about tax evasion, money-laundering, fraud, intrigue, and murder takes the reader from the outskirts of Munich to the vibrant vitality of Manhattan, from the South African wilderness to Tokyo's nightlife, from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong to the serenity of Alberobello in Italy. Herbert Hinrich and his right hand, Joe Manner build up a small German watchmaker into a leader in its industry. Since their company has neither financial resources nor unique products, its astounding success is nothing but the result of the cunning and ruthlessness of its management team, the Wolf Pack. After Herbert Hinrich retires, Joe Manner's colleagues go for his throat. Yet they are no match for his resourcefulness. The novel culminates in a surprising climax

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating read, great story, wonderful writing style, April 17, 2005
By Mark (London, UK) - See all my reviews
The author develops realistic characters, that scheme and plot with the best corporate politicians (reminded me of the "48 Laws of Power" by Greene). The parallel sub-plots are written in captivating detail with surprising twists to the very last page. The author adds wonderful nuggets from history, politics, and international trade. Very elaborate writing style.

I rarely read fiction; this book came to me on recommendation from my father, it caught my imagination, and I could not put it down. It's an intense read; the many characters and interlaced sub-plots require the reader to concentrate on the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, couldn't put it down, June 17, 2005

What a great book! I loved it. Author Gabriel Gollwitzer very aptly painted a story full of plot twists, suspense, and intrigue that made it very difficult for me to put the book down. The book was very easy to get into and kept me interested the whole way through. All of the action in the book kept me reading and made me feel like I got to know all of the characters. I would recommend this book for everyone. It was truly a thriller and very exciting!
