Give The Lady Six Stars!, March 14, 2000
Cheyenne Roberts is one heck of a woman. She's pretty, she's smart and she's feisty!. And now she's leaving a very successful accounting career in Chicago to return to Montana. Montana - the land of the "big sky", the home of the entire Robert's clan - and Jackson Kincaid.Jackson Kincaid is every woman's dream - a tall, dark and very handsome rancher! While Jackson will admit that Cheyenne has grown to become a very desirable woman, he can't get past the fact that she's his best friend's kid sister. It's up to Cheyenne to convince Jackson that she's all woman now. The chemistry between Jackson and Cheyenne is hot! The simplest encounters between these two will cause sparks to fly - sometimes in the least expected places. One of my favorite secondary characters is Cheyenne's grandfather Slim - the man is hilarious and absolutely shameless in some of his antics! Slim, along with Cheyenne's mother, siblings and extended family provide a loving family as the background for Jackson and Cheyenne's love story. I like everything about For Keeps - the fact that it is written in a first person narrative, the twists and turns that Ms. Sims puts in the storyline, and of course that unique gift Janice Sims has for describing places so vivdly, they appear "postcard clear" in your mind (you'll really wish you were there.) Every reader likes to find that one special story that they can connect with. The one you can read over and over. The one where it seems the writer is so intuned with your own life that she has captured your experiences - or your dreams. Well, For Keeps is my story. I can see myself riding horses across a ranch in "the land of the big sky". I can also see myself in the arms of that handsome Jackson Kincaid! Thank you, Janice, for writing my story...how did you know?

For Keeps is one of the year's best romances, December 7, 1999
By A Customer
Janice Sims has a talent for placing African American characters where many in mainstream America don't expect to find them. For Keeps is set in Montana, where according to U.S. Census Bureau figures, the state's 3,200 African- American residents make up about .04 percent of the total population. That's a story in and of itself! Six generations of Cheyenne Roberts' family have lived in Montana. When For Keeps begins, Cheyenne Roberts is heading home. She has been summoned home from Chicago to the bedside of her ailing grandfather. She has carved out a successful accounting career in Chicago but her heart remains in Big Sky Country with Jackson Kincaid. Although she has had a crush on Jackson since childhood, he sees Cheyenne as a little sister and for him "to look upon a Roberts girl as a sex object was tantamount to incest." But Cheyenne is bound and determined to get Jackson to cross the line....within a year's time. For Keeps has a strong, respectful relationship between the main characters and a wonderful cast of secondary characters. It is told in a bold, first-person narrative that lets the readers know exactly what's on Cheyenne's mind. For Keeps is a wonderful book. I would really love to read more "Josie stories" about Cheyenne's great-great grandmother, a former slave who left Kentucky to carve out a life in Wyoming and Montana.

Unlike any book I have ever read, January 2, 2000
Janice Sims is one of the most majestic writers of our time. She has a knack for knowing what the reader wants and needs.I have read all, save for one,of Mrs.Sims' books.None of them have the plain: boy meets girl, they fall in love, the end, scenario. The only two things these novels have in common are the writer and its own uniqueness. No two books are alike.Whether it's a love triangle,a fictional life form, some kind of danger,or maybe an old coot for a grandfather,Janice seems to obtain and captivate the readers attention. For Keeps,in first-person narrative,is unlike any book that I have ever read.It is explicitly detailed and leaves little to the imagination. The characters and plot are original. For Keeps tells the story of honor, sacrifices for love, friendship, and falling in love again. The adoration and love Cheyenne Roberts and Jackson Kincaid share for each other would make a single person crave for what could be.The characters come to life and make you feel every emotion they are experiencing. This book is awsome in every sense of the word.I'm awaiting Janice Sims' next masterpiece.
