From Publishers Weekly
Dogs adopted from the Humane Society star in this playful book, which is a cross between a shopping catalogue, a pet owners guide and a fawning look at pampered pups. After introductory pieces from Szabo (who writes the "Pets" column for the New York Post), Elisabeth Röhm and Virginia Chipurnoi (president of the Humane Society of New York), the writing consists mainly of fun trivia (why do dogs lick their owners?), helpful hints (dont let your dog sleep between you and your partner) and suggestions for sumptuous dog beds one can buy. The photos are adorable, ranging from yawning mutts sprawled on pillows to elegant breeds lounging, human-like on lawn chairs. Since the book is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the New York Humane Society, with a percentage of the proceeds benefiting it, the project naturally has some star power; designer Todd Oldhams Jack Russell terrier sleeps in style on a stack of Target corduroy cushions, and Law and Order cast members cuddle with up-for-adoption dogs. Even canine lovers who arent looking for more pet accessories (or cant afford the ones featured here) wont be able to suppress a smile when perusing the cute photos collected here. The captions maintain the light, fun attitude of the book, which does its utmost to encourage readers to adopt a dog as soon as possible.

Product Description
Good night, sweet Prince-and Lady and Duke! Dogs spend between 12 and 16 hours a day snoozing, and their devoted owners are only too happy to accommodate these tuckered pups with upholstered baskets, monogrammed pillows, even designated spots on the down duvet in the master bedroom. Featuring the napping nests of a cross section of sleepy canines,
Where Sleeping Dogs Lie shows how our pooches are such creatures of comfort that they find cozy slumber spots in the most unexpected places.
Opening with a foreword by
Law & Order star and dog lover Elisabeth Röhm, the book includes sneak peeks at beautiful dreamers of almost every breed catching some Zs on the beach, in the snow, and by the fireplace. On the more practical side, William Berloni, the Humane Society's director of animal behavior (and Broadway's go-to trainer), discusses a dog's need for sleep and security. The book concludes with a useful resource guide to products that will provide your dog with top-flight shut-eye.
