Product Description

Revolutions is a powerful tale of love, loyalty, murder, and redemption, set in Russia in the late nineteenth century. The story begins at the country home of Alexander Herzen, an old revolutionary who has retired to the country to finish his memoirs. A young radical, Sergei Nachaev, follows him there, seeking shelter from a political murder. Herzen is appalled that his writings have led to such violence, and tries to win Nachaev to the cause of peaceful change. Knowing the power of the older writer, Nachaev seeks Herzen’s blessing for his actions. Herzen’s daughter, however, is increasingly drawn to the young revolutionary and, as the police close in, Herzen finds that he must choose between his undying hatred for the Russian state and his love for his own family…

5.0 out of 5 stars 'Revolutions' is revolutionary!, December 7, 2003

An extraordinary piece of work. The language is beautiful, the characters are rich, and the story has stayed with me. A revolutionary theme about the power of virtue, and the triumph of love!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful!, March 30, 2009
A beautiful story set to beautiful prose. The characters jump off the pages and the ideas are elegantly presented and examined. This may be a story that will change your life as it has mine. The benefits have been tremendous. I hope you explore this fascinating author.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bored me to tears!, August 8, 2009
The author of the book sounds like someone trying to establish themselves as a writer rather than a teller of a story. He has a very strange way of writing and this constantly distracts you from the story. I have seen 14 year-olds write better novels than this. By page 42 I was so annoyed I put it down and never went back. It's doing a good job propping up my bed now though!!
