Product Description

The Science of Love reveals the latest findings on love, sex, and relationships and tackles a host of questions, including: Why do we fall in-and out-of love? Can we really explain the rules of attraction? Are we genetically programmed to love? What can be gained from love? What are the emotional consequences of living without it? As people live longer, are they less content to settle for an imperfect deal? Will this lead to serial relationships replacing lifelong partnerships? The Science of Love shows us why men tend to hide their feelings from women and how evolution may determine our sexual behavior more than we ever imagined.

5.0 out of 5 stars very comprehensive, August 21, 2006
Excellent resume of all the available scientific knowledge regarding sex and sexuality. Dr. Wilson explains everything you would like to know about sex and, perhaps, you didn't dare to ask in a simple and very humurous way. It is fun and you learn a lot. If you are a man you will understand perfectly certain behaviours and will probably feel less gilty.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chemical Love, November 7, 2004
By Simon Laub (Aarhus, Denmark, Europe) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The romantically inclined might not be comfortable with having love explaíned away as advanced chemistry. A chemistry that is controlled by our genes and seldom overruled by our higher brain functions.
Yet, understanding chemistry and genes might actually help us understand love better. Certainly, noone should be without the information in this book!
It comes highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, December 3, 2005
By Daddy (NorCal) - See all my reviews
I just don't understand why Love has to be sacred. So I bought this book to find out. Yes yes, I have been in love before and of course this book breaks it down to the details of different types of love. Then they also go into results of love. How there is Eros, ludis, storge, mania, pragma, storic, ludic, storig ludic. All these different loves are explained in detail. But what made it so interesting is because you will eventually be in one of these catagories. For myself, definitely Eros was one of them. "Eros: this type of lover is 'eager to get to know the beloved quickly, intensely - and undressed... " Yes we've all felt that one before. But this is also a great book in that all the different types of love can be met in combinations, as well as change types over the life time of your relationship. I'm no expert, nor am I good experienced in love science, but I did find this book interesting to say the least. Again, is your love life worth taking a blind randam path? When you spend 12 yrs of your life studying all subjects for the working world? Are you willing to not study about love? Read it, and at least have a concept of love from some point of view.
