5.0 out of 5 stars Another success of Nimbus records, August 11, 2000
By Arturo (México, D.F.) - See all my reviews
Thirty years of rich and varied repertoire in the Covent Garden since 1910 until 1940 is something too easy to say but too difficult to record. Some of the greatests voices of the century like Richard Tauber, Beniamino Gigli, Nellie Melba, John McCormack or Kirsten Flagstad are present in this splendid recording of its operistic experiences in the Royal Opera House. This is a "must have" to anyone interested in the live recordings of Chaliapine, Turner or Tibbet, Supervia or Caruso, Melchior or Gadski. Pay attention, specially, to the track nine. The "Ora e per sempre" from Otello is being performed by one of the gigantic but bad known tenors of the century: Renato Zanelli.
