Made of durable stoneware, Monaco pieces are chip-resistant and oven-, freezer-, microwave-, and dishwasher-safe. This dinnerware carries a three-year warranty against defects, and each piece can be replaced individually. This is a great set of dishes! The pieces have a good weight to them. The plates are large and I was impressed by the nice larger size cups (16 oz) for coffee. I had been searching for a
quality dinnerware set in shades of blue and this is definitely it! I love the pattern. You can go casual with it or dress it up for special occasions. You can use your lighter shades of blue glassware with it or color co-ordinate it with your cobalt blues. You'll love it!

I used to snicker at people who had a "pattern." Time after time I would look over a friend's registry to find multiple items requested to match their chosen pattern and think it was a waste of money. That was until I was at a Pfaltzgraff outlet shopping for one of those said friends, and stumbled up the Monaco pattern. Instantly I was in love. The beautiful hues of blue are breathtaking. I could be a little biased since it is my favorite color, but it adds versatility to any blue lovers decor. The motif is raised and gives not only an optical illusion of a mosiac, but also feels like tiny cuts of tiles adorn the pieces. The pieces are great quality and have a good weight to them. The size of the plates are large and provide a lot of room for keeping your food seperated if you're a picky eater like me. The bowls are deep and are not the typical ones found in a standard place setting. The coffee cups put my previous Martha Stewart cups to shame, infact they make them look like they're part of a child's tea set. Bottom line is that this is truly a set where you get more bang for your buck. The only downside is that this pattern was introduced in 2002, and Pfalzgraff is already retiring it this month (June 2004). If you plan on buying this set, make sure you go to Pfaltzgraff.com to stock up on the Monaco accessories in the clearance section.

I've wanted this set ever since I first saw it on the Pfaltzgraff site and when I saw them on sale here, I bought two, as well as the creamer/sugar bowl set. The mosaic pattern is very textured and colorful; the pictures don't do the set justice. These are heavy enough to be used as everyday plates and lovely enough to be used for entertaining. Buy a set for yourself; you don't have to take my word for it! This is probably the best buy I've ever made from here!
