Beautiful enough to bring to the table and durable enough to outlive its 101-year warranty against defects, this heavy, 2-quart casserole is shaped like an apple, perfect for preparing and ceremoniously serving festive dishes. Suitable for the oven or for browning meat and sweating vegetables on gas, electric, induction, or ceramic ranges, and delightful to behold on the countertop when not in use, the casserole is made of cast-iron and clad inside and out in Le Creuset's famous bright enamel, which won't absorb odors or flavors and readily scrubs clean. As cast-iron is unexcelled for heat distribution and retention, the casserole cooks foods evenly and gently without hot spots. The knob on its heavy, tight-fitting lid is ovenproof to 450 degrees F. Handles facilitate carrying, and the casserole is dishwasher-safe. Like all of Le Creuset's renowned cookware and bakeware, it's made in France.

The heavy cast iron pot with a tight fitting lid provides a blanket of heat which gently and evenly cooks food, sealing in moisture and flavour, whether on the stove top or in the oven. The porcelain enamel coating is non-reactive and won't absorb food odours or flavours, and is dishwasher safe.

Made of porcelain-enamelled cast iron, which absorbs heat quickly, distributes it evenly and gently, and retains the heat long after removal from the heat source. The even thickness of the cast iron base, walls, and lid means that heat distribution is even and energy efficient. The cookware is coated with two coats of vitrified enamel for extra durability; the hygienic, impermeable enamelled surface means the cookware can be used for marinating food prior to cooking or for food storage after cooking, and protects the cookware against rusting.
