Editorial Reviews

From the Actor

From Mike McTeigue, author and presenter: This tape was originally conceived to augment my golf instruction book of the same title. I am reproducing it now, because recent customers of the paperback edition have been asking for its re-release.

Now more than fifteen years since its original release, I can still vouch for the efficacy and usefulness of the simple method presented in the Keys to the Effortless Golf Swing. It works for individuals of any age, gender, and skill level. All you need is a commitment to follow the lessons in sequence, and practice the simple motions we describe.

I offer two caveats about the tape, though. First, the production values may strike you as bit hokey. It was produced in 1985 on a low budget by some talented media students at San Francisco State University, so the music and graphics clearly are dated. Second, the tape is best for beginners and intermediate golfers and not for golfers with single digit handicaps. If you are stuck in a rut at 90 or above, The Keys have a lot to offer you. I wish you the greatest success. May all your swings be effortless.

Product Description

Join PGA teaching professional Michael McTeigue on the lesson tee with beginner and intermediate golfers. Together they clearly demonstrate the sequential steps to building a powerful and effortless golf swing.

This 80 minute instructional video contains eight easy lessons that will appeal to golfers wishing to build a dependable swing they can keep for life. Mike takes the complexity and mystery out of golf instruction, and makes learning the swing fun and easy.

The tape follows faithfully the companion book, "The Keys to the Effortless Golf Swing, Curing Your Hit Impulse in Seven Simple Lessons". The tape also includes a bonus lesson, "Shaping Your Shots", which teaches the viewer to control the trajectory of shots at will.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for beginners and frustrated golfers, November 21, 2003

This review is from: The Keys to the Effortless Golf Swing [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This tape faithfully parallels the well-known book of the same title -- also available on Amazon.com. There is one valuable extra lesson called "Shaping Your Shots" which should be added to the book. While this 80 minute tape obviously is a low-budget production, McTeigue and his students are entertaining, and the information presented is *outstanding* for beginner golfers and high handicappers. It probably is best viewed one "lesson" at a time, and you might want to watch each lesson several times, while practicing the motions McTeigue so clearly describes. If you liked the book - and are still not shooting bogey golf or better - I predict you will benefit from this video. If you shoot consistently in the 80's, this may be a little too basic for you -- unless you are fighting a chronic slice.
