It might be called a salad plate, but the folks at Pfaltzgraff say it could just as well be called a bread plate, dessert plate, or even a sneaking-a-snack plate. But whatever its name, the 8-1/2-inch Pfaltzgraff Flower Garden salad plate is a good multi-purpose plate. It's the right size for a salad, a sandwich, or a pile of cookies or crackers. It'd also make a nice small serving plate on an outdoor garden party table, and since it's made of sturdy melamine plastic, it won't break if the wind picks up and blows the tablecloth off.
The country-garden-style plate is a green-tinged cream color, while a brown grid border of green leaves, single violet stems, and trowels circles the edge. On the inner edge of the border, a line of text is repeated three times: "It's spring and time to plant seeds." As part of a Flower Garden pattern collection or just as a singular piece, this plate will bring a sweet look of spring to any table. An economical yet thoughtful gift idea for a gardener might be to give a potted plant, with the plate underneath for water drainage overflow.
The Flower Garden salad plate is safe in the dishwasher, but when washing the plate by hand, avoid harsh, abrasive cleansers.
