5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect drawing or driving music, December 2, 2004
For road trips, this is my new favorite CD on repeat. (You may want to program out the ghost IDs that seperate the hidden track at the end of the CD from the rest of the songs.) This is music I can sort stuff out to. One part feel-good rock (like Edie Brickell/ John Mayer), two parts meditative, moody stuff, all in that indie folk genre of swirling guitars and deep bass undercurrents. Imagine if Patty Griffin spent a lot of time with The Smiths and the Cure and somehow kept an even keel. Tons of smart lyrics, too - when I first heard it, I definitely did a few auditory double-takes. ("Did she really just say that?" kind of thing.) File this one under "art rock" with your Radiohead and later Joni Mitchell records.

BTW, I don't know why there isn't a picture of the CD cover on Amazon. It's a stencil of a porcupine in metallic gold on a red background. The whole CD looks pretty cool when you open it and take it apart. Go to Borders and check it out.
