Product Description

Product Description

Hasbro Games brings the thrilling competition of the hit reality TV show, The Apprentice, home with The Apprentice Game. Two teams select six competitor cards from a deck for their teams to compete in a series of tasks. Each team swipes its competitor cards through the game unit and waits for Donald Trump to assign a team to pick a task card. Once the task card is selected, it's read aloud by the team and swept through the game unit. Each team must select three of its competitors to complete the assigned task based on their individual skill sets as identified on each card. Mr. Trump will then announce a specific skill needed to complete the task and ask each team to select one of its three competitors and swipe the card through the game unit. The team with the competitor who has the highest points for that specific skill will reap the benefits of more earnings cards as doled out by Mr. Trump. One of the competitors, from the team with the lowest earnings, will hear those dreaded words "You're fired!" The game ends when each team has one competitor remaining for the final task and all earnings are tallied. The team with the highest earnings total wins.

5.0 out of 5 stars From a game character..., February 18, 2005
Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
If you have played the game, I am "TOM, Age 23". I was able to play the prototype version of the game back in August after it was first created, and I was able to become a character in the game.

Each team picks a few players (i dont remember how many) at the beginning of the game, and you swipe them like credit cards. Then the game knows exactly who is playing. You then swipe task cards, and Trump tells you what you have to do. For example, the task could be to start a shoe shine operation on 5th avenue in New York, and you have to pick someone that has high "street smarts". If your character has better street smarts than the other, your team wins money.

The game is a lot of fun. Trump's voice is on it, and the game unit is very smart. It knows who is playing the game, and who isn't playing, and Trump even yells at you if you swipe a card of someone not playing, and says that the person isn't in the game, so it is very intelligent.

I think those with an entrepreneurial attitude will truly enjoy this game. There are some not-so-good characters (my characteristics are horrible!), so you'll have to do some thinking as to who you use for a task.

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Awesome, January 3, 2006
Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
It is truly a shame that this game is no longer in production. My wife and I bought this as a second thought at our local Walmart as it was red-tagged for $9.00 and have not been able to put it down since. The amount of technology, interaction, skill and strategy involved in this game is second to none. If you see this game, get it. Period. Yes, really.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun for Apprentice addicts, April 4, 2005
Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
I purchased this game for my 12 year old son who is an Apprentice addict. Our general impression is that the game is fun, though we haven't owned it for very long so I don't know what the longevity will be on this opinion...

The game comes with a card scanner unit and 3 decks of cards - competitor, task, and earnings. Players divide into 2 teams and choose 6 competitor cards which show a picture of the competitor and bars indicating that person's strength in given areas like sales & marketing, education, creativity, etc. Each team scans the cards in the machine and the game begins. A task card is chosen (create and operate a casino game, sell bottled water, etc.) and teams must pick 3 of the competitor cards to challenge the other team. Donald's voice tells a skill which is important to complete this task and each team picks a competitor card to scan. Donald then tells which competitor had the higher rating in that skill and tells how many earnings cards to distribute to each team. 2 more skills are then specified and teams choose which players to scan for these as well. More earnings cards are distributed according to what the skill levels were. At the end of the round, teams add up their earnings cards and the team with the lowest number results in a competitor getting fired. The game continues until there are 2 competitors left and one is chosen by Donald to be the winner.

Things I didn't like about the game:
1) there is no volume control and level seems quite loud
2) the game takes about 1/2 hour to play and there is no way to save it in the middle of a game - the unit will shut off automatically after 5 minutes of non-use
3) batteries not included
4) each time you start the game, Donald's voice proclaims that this is the best game ever made (not quite...)

Things I do like about the game:
1) the game makes you think about what skills will be important to do well in a given task - you pick which of your competitors will compete in the task based on your conclusions
2) swiping the cards in the machine is fun

This game is loud and annoying. It's pace is slower than Donald Trump's actual speaking and there is annoying music that plays while you are playing. Read more
