Review
We wrote "Bit Players" because we felt the need for a tale of love lost and won in the deep Antipodes. In the world of Australian rugby, they make the players strong and the team spirit stronger. When there’s a girl involved, the stakes are even higher. The final match is on and the players have teeth, in more ways than one. Plus there are too darn many fantasy baseball stories already!

About the Author

Esther M. Friesner has a B.A. from Vassar and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Yale, where she taught Spanish for a number of years. Since 1983 she has had over thirty novels published, over one hundred short stories, plus poetry and essays. She won the Nebula Award twice (awarded by the Science Fiction Writers of America) and in addition has been a Nebula and Hugo Award finalist. Although her work includes science fiction, fantasy, and horror, she is best known as a humorist. For this she blames one husband, two kids, two cats, and far too many comic books, foreign and domestic. Jay Caselberg is an Australian writer based in London. Growing up in Australia, he traveled the world extensively, including time spent living in Turkey and the UK. Starting life as an academic, in the History and Philosophy of Science, he took a sideways step into IT consulting, then moved to London in 1991 for work. His role for major consultancies took him to many countries around the world, and to date he has worked in about 55 different countries. His short fiction and poetry has appeared in many places internationally, including venues such as Interzone, The Third Alternative, Crimewave, Aurealis and many others. His first novel Wyrmhole, a science fiction mystery, came out from Roc Books in October 2003, followed by Metal Sky in September 2004. The third in the series, The Star Tablet is due in December 2005 with Wall of Mirrors coming in 2006. He is constantly working on new material and usually has one or two novels in progress at any one time. He also writes as James A. Hartley.
