5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting hybrid of styles
Caught these guys at a busker's festival in Windsor, Ont. in 96 and was immediately hooked. Bought their first 3 cd's right then and there. Glad to see they're FINALLY getting some distribution.

Anyway, this is a fun little cd...a great combination of pop/rock music & celtic reels, with bright arraingements & tight harmonies, punctuated with lots of bagpipes...

3.0 out of 5 stars Only two good songs
I bought This CD well aware of the fact that I only liked two songs on the entire album. But, those two songs made it totally worth it for me. I like the band but I dont like when the have songs that sound like a boy band. They have a very talented piper and a very unique sound when they incomperate him. Other than that they have no good music. The two songs with no...

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Brilliant... some of my all time favourite tracks, July 9, 1999

I discovered brother by chance and since finding "Exit.." have become and instant convert. The blending of the different styles works magically, and these mixed with the tight harmonies makes this collection a pleasure to listen to and enjoy in its entirety. The music of brother will live in music lovers libraries for a long time to come.

Anyway, this is a fun little cd...a great combination of pop/rock music & celtic reels, with bright arraingements & tight harmonies, punctuated with lots of bagpipes & digeridoo. You won't hear anything like this anywhere else. My personal fav tracks are "The Last Time", "Louie's Return", "Didj Jam" and "The Serpent".

Highly recommended to any celtic music fans out there, or anyone looking for something a bit different. You won't regret checking this one out, as well as some of their other releases.

Now, if only they'll come back near the Detroit area again!!!

Real good effort by one of the most unique bands I've ever heard. Saw them, heard them, been hooked ever since.

If you have a chance to see them live, DO IT!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yippee! Great album, August 5, 2002

Brother is a great band and this a great album. Not only that, it also features Fergus, a third brother who does not appear on later albums. The songs are rocking, thoughtful and the addition of the dig' and the bagpipes - yes, bagpipes - is really wonderful.

This album uses a great mix of Western rock n roll with scotish bagpipes. Every song on its is catchy it its own way and shows the diversity of the Austrialian culture.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Screehville?" Is that even a word? :), March 2, 1999

Yep, it is! And one day in the future, I have every confidence that it'll be a household word (okay so maybe I'm a little over confident). Really, a great album with a little bit of everything mixed together. That makes for a very interesting, and memorable, offering. A staple for every home across America and the world!

3.0 out of 5 stars Only two good songs, March 26, 2011

I bought This CD well aware of the fact that I only liked two songs on the entire album. But, those two songs made it totally worth it for me. I like the band but I dont like when the have songs that sound like a boy band. They have a very talented piper and a very unique sound when they incomperate him. Other than that they have no good music. The two songs with no lyrics, and are just instrumental with the bagpipes, are trully amazing, and I think they should stick to this type of music. However, I can see that Alot of people like the band, so buy the CD and make your own judgement. Because like I said there is at least two incredible songs on here.

4.0 out of 5 stars not for everyone, December 6, 2001

Chris Barron (Shreveport, LA United States) - See all my reviews

This cd was my intro to Brother, unique vocal harmonies mixed
with guitar, didg, pipes, traditional Celt songs and mediocre
original songs/lyrics.
Don't get me wrong...I love this album (and their others)but
is it the Beatles?? No. What it is however, is a totally unique sound. Steeped in tradition but striving forward.
Perfect soundtrack for a trip to Scotland.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ouch!, March 30, 2001
This review is from: exit from Screechville (Audio CD)
Brother has become one of the most exciting performers that I have ever seen. Their live chemistry can be felt in every studio venture that they've produced to date. The symbolic tapestry of each piece is combined with splendid harmonies, haunting overtures of bagpipes and the didgeridoo that will entrance and delight music fans of all ages. Kinetic energies literally explodes from their discs. My ears have never tasted anything so good. 5 plus stars.

This is the best band on earth! They are creative and energetic and a lot of fun to listen to. Screechville reflects them so well. A great album to put on when you're feeling down. It'll get you up again in no time!
