This review is from: ezShade BLUE - SPF 100 BLOCKS reflected UVA/UVB rays & DOUBLES your SHADE. INSTANTLY ATTACHES to ANY nylon/poly umbrella - Weighs 9 OZ (also Green & Red - search ezShade) (Sports)
Bought this for our beach vacation, unfortunately we weren't able to use it much due to wind conditions. It's a great concept and the sand compartment along the lower edge works nicely. It's made from a material that sand does not stick to; so no problem cleaning it. The only problem is that it doesn't seem to work well in windy conditions. It could use a few more wind flaps. It has velcro at the top to attach to your umbrella. The velcro itself is strong, however the adhesive backing that attaches to your umbrella is not. The backing would pull loose from the umbrella and after that happens this shade is useless.
Be sure to apply the adhesives before heading to the beach. It states to let it adhere for something like 24 hours before use. (can't remember time frame exactly.) I'll try it again on our next vacation and hopefull it won't be windy.

good concept, poor design & execution,

This product is well-made and attaches easily to your umbrella if you do it before you get to the beach (we didn't, but it still went up OK with some helpers).
That said, if you have any more than a gentle breeze, it acts as a large sail and puts extra strain on your umbrella pole, and if the wind doesn't line up exactly with the sun, you lose some of your shady spot as the fabric billows out. The product would be better with 6 or more wind vents. We used it for the first day of our week long vacation to the Outer Banks, NC, and didn't touch it again due to how much of a PITA it was. If I ever use the product again, I will add some extra vents. Also, depending on the angle of the sun, the maximum amount of extra shade provided by the product is negligible. I didn't measure, but at best we got an extra 2' x 3' shady spot in the early morning and late afternoon when the sun was low and you don't need shade that much. This minimal extra shade simply isn't worth the hassle of dealing with the wind. FYI - we had an 8' umbrella which cast plenty of shade as it was.

Cool and easy shade!,

Great product!
One of those "why didn't I think of this?" ideas. It's compact, lightweight, and easy-to-use portable shade. It seems like the perfect solution for when it seems impossible to position the umbrella for shade-- we just attached the EZ shade and saved ourselves from the direct rays of the sun. The length is adjustable and easy to weigh down with sand so it works as a shield against the wind, too. I'm considering buying multiples so that we can use it as a changing cabana--one you can actually stand in. Great price, too!
