This is a book that any small child can love and the fact that it teaches as it entertains is a great tribute to the skill and the heart of the author. Sturdy construction, a size made for "little hands" and bright colors have made it a favorite of my kids. We know several Spanish-speaking families in our church--and this book will help as kids talk to kids, I think.

I am bilingual and am raising my son bilingual, too. This is an excellent book and series with adorable pictures, and each page has both english and spanish on it. The back includes pronunciation guides for all the vocabulary (both for english and spanish) which is helpful for my husband, a non-native speaker. It's very hard to find quality bilingual books- I've looked around a lot and loved these so much I have even given them as gifts to friends who want to introduce their kids (and themselves) to the language.

Written by Gladys Rosa-Mendoza and edited by Carolina Cifuentes, My Family and I / Mi Familia y Yo is a delightful, bilingual board book for young children ages 3 through 6. With colorful illustrations by Jackie Snider, this durable board book offers a simple but engaging text in both English and Spanish. My Family And I/Mi Familia y You with its simple sentences for beginning readers in both languages is very strongly recommended for family, preschool, kindergarten, and community library collections.

My son enjoys this book often. It is a great complimenyt to the authors alphabet book too! My son is hispanic/caucasian and this is a book that he can read with either his dad,myself or any member of the entire extended family without any difficulty. Which is great since reading is one of his favorite activities.

Like other books in this series, the pages are very busy and the colors aren't very bright, which makes it difficult to keep my daughter's attention. However, this one is better than the others because it has a story and repeats the same phrases on each page, so hopefully she'll at least learn "esta es mi..."

Normally I would say that my daughter is a little old for this type of book. At 5 she is a bit beyond little board books without many words. But for laying a foundation for Spanish, this book is just what both she & I need. The simple sentences allow us to see what exactly each word means, as well as get an intuitive grasp on the grammer, and the pronunciation guide in the back is VERY helpfull.

I know that we will quickly move beyond this book, but for now I view it as essential for our grasping Spanish. In fact, I plan on buying the other books in this series.

I bought this book for my 3 yr old daughter. My first language is Spanish and I have been teaching her since she was born. My husband doesn't speak Spanish so her first language is English. I am disappointed in this book. My daughter does like it but I needed a book with more text. It doesn't have many words in it. You pretty much have to make up the story yourself. Anyone could have written it. The drawings are nice. This book is for a much younger child.

she is over 3 and always talks of family-this was a good book for her!!!It has the bilingual quality which is nice.

The book is cute but the vocabulary in Spanish is limited. If you are in a Spanish-speaking household these will be the words you will learn from birth (like tio, mama, abuelo). I prefer other books in this series that have a wider vocabulary. It may be good for a non-bilingual household.

This book is engaging and fun to read while looking at the colorful pictures. My 3 year-old loved it. He is bilingual.
