Truth for hard, difficult times in life.,
By Prima Bouma (Portland Oregon) - See all my reviews
This review is from: (fear not) Venture to inner peace (Paperback)
This little book is a hard, difficult book. Why? Because it speaks the truth in areas where the truth is a hard, difficult thing to face. Like grief. I've lost a daughter, a husband and bits of my body to cancer. That hurts. Inside. Where what makes a person a person is. And this little book has painful answers to those losses. However, these painful answers are true answers, the kind that lead to healing. There are no pat cliches, stupid comments or shallow comfort.
Each page of "(fear not)" is a complete meditation unto itself. It can be used with any form of meditation, journaling, dance therapy or art. If the reader has no established form of meditation the photograph opposite the text is there to help. The book is therefore a useful addition to the library of any therapist, counselor, or religious leader. If one works through even a few of these meditations, healing is possible. Life with joy and a return of color to a black and white existence is possible. It is not that the ideas are necessarily new, but they are written and illustrated with clarity. The ideas are easy to understand. Hard to do, but easy to understand. A few, very few, books I have in duplicate so I can share at need without losing my own copy. This will be one such book. My copy was a gift. I will get more copies to take to my support groups where I am sure others will find it as useful as I have.

(fear not) found its way to me during happy hour at a local restaurant. Serindipity happens! Just as I was entering a painful chapter of life, and never suspecting just how much more difficult things were going to get in the coming weeks, this little book was handed to me by the author, who was sitting about ten feet away. I poured over the pages while sitting at the bar, enjoying the last few sips of my beer. Later in the weekend I took the little book with me to the Oregon Coast, where I read it again three more times, but more deliberately. Thank you for the wisdom and clarity on these pages. I will need it from time-to-time as a reminder when life seems unmanageable.

This book found me, that's the only way I can describe it. I was at a great little tea parlor in the Hollywood District of Portland (Mademoiselle Noelle's), not even a bookstore. I had gone in looking for a cup of tea and peace of mind. I found both. The text consists of brief paragraphs covering topics ranging from suicide to joy to expecting miracles with an accompanying black and white photo of remarkable quality. Though brief, the thoughts on each page serve wonderfully for meditation as they are not easy slogans or "sound bites." I closed my eyes, thought about my most pressing issues and just opened the book. What I read (about expecting miracles) calmed my mind and allowed me to get past my anxieties. (fear not) is night table reading. It's meant to be shared. If you have read/watched "The Secret" or "What the Bleep Do We Know?", this book will resonate with you.

Beautiful and Uplifting,
By Laura Faeth "author of I Found All the Parts:... (Superior, CO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: (fear not) Venture to inner peace (Paperback)
(fear not) is one of those books I want to give to all of my friends because it speaks about universal truths in such a simple, elegant manner. Every other page offers short, but brilliant messages such as, "Expect miracles...When you become absolutely clear on an intention, it manifests. Keep in mind, however, that miracles are not magical-they are a natural outcome of supreme clarity. The moment that uncertainty creeps into your thoughts, miracles are put on hold." This reflects my own spiritual journey which has been filled with miracles, but they only manifested when I chased doubt away. Because the book speaks to me so profoundly, I'm opening it to a random page each morning, and letting the words be my mantra for the day.
The accompanying photographs by Jason Savage capture the essence of each pearl of wisdom perfectly. The photos are a great reminder that a picture is worth a thousand words. I'd highly recommend this book to everyone looking for comfort, direction, and a reminder of their purpose in the world.

a dream realized,

This review is from: (fear not) Venture to inner peace (Paperback)
although i am not familiar with the author himself i do have a connection with one of the photographers. the combination of such awe inspiring photos and words the that they accompany are subtle reminders of life and all of its potential. how it has impacted my life and understanding of is intangible. to be able to see a friend taking strides in his own self discovery and his career and to see it done in such a giving form is beautiful in and of itself. but when the end product can have such an impact on all those who come in contact with the wonderful work, its purpose is immeasurable. this book is a wonderful read and a tasty treat for the eyes as well. i encourage anyone and everyone to read it not just once, but keep it within arms reach so to lift you up when extraneous variables tend to drag you down. thank you TSP and i look forward to your upcoming projects.

A Picture Says a Thousand Words,
This review is from: (fear not) Venture to inner peace (Paperback)
Fear can cripple your ability to act in accordance with one's desires. Concur your fears and your potential is limitless. "Fear Not" addresses the fact that we are meant to be happy; we are meant to be successful; and we are not meant to be fearful. It gently reminds us of who we really are, or who we were meant to be. The photography is awesome and without words could tell the story, yet the words reinforce where we should be in thought right now and always.
One of the things I like most about "Fear Not" is that it can be read from beginning to end, or you can call upon a particular belief that you need to be reminded of at any time, somewhat like a reference guide to proper thoughts. Kudo's to Alan Lohner and his team for creating an enjoyable, enlightening, experience.

The book is so well done, with beautiful pictures paired with eloquent words of wisdom. It's a reminder to all of us on the journey of life to step back and remember that often life is about our perceptions and how we frame it. I have given the book to many as gifts - all have loved it. A friend who is healing through the death of a loved one even shared that after reading through these thought, it has helped her heal. It's simple and yet so powerful!!

wonderful lessons for life,
By Brian Lavaty (Saginaw, Mich.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: (fear not) Venture to inner peace (Paperback)
Got problems? Need solutions? Thumb through "(fear not)" and you might find a direction. With wonderful photographs melded to compelling words, this small book offers a road map for the complex journey that is life. The blend is seamless, as in a photograph of a hand feeding a squirrel ("Extend a kindness of every kind to every kind") or ominous clouds above a desert highway ("You are not your past. To truly go forward you must face forward"). Advice that is simple, yet sound. This book would make an excellent gift.
