Use HDMI from blue ray to tv and use optical out of tv to your surround system

I have a cable box that does not have hdmi. So I have rgb cables from cable into my Philips VCR/DVD recorder. Then hdmi from recorder to 3d blu ray sournd sound system. Then from blu ray into tv. I did it this way because I also have a wii that gets plugged into the rgb in the back of the tv
