I think the aerator will still work fine and do its job. You'd have to be more careful when decanting. You might be able to fashion a new mesh filter from an old stainless steel kitchen strainer and some well placed solder.

VINTURI FILTER SCREENS
Vinturi filter screens nestle in the Vinturi red wine aerator to trap cork and sediment. Their deep design prevents clogging and overflow. The mesh is made from 18/8 stainless steel which is the same as used in wine making. The 5-pack ensures you always have clean filter screens to enjoy your wine.

I have spotted replacement filters available through retailers like Bed Bath &Beyound, World Market, Amazon, and even on Venturi's web site. Hope that is helpful.
