By all means, the idea of releasing the 1977 in HD Blu-ray is a five star idea, but whether the final product is deserving of five stars or not should depend on its quality. Based on the clips that Disney has shared on their official website as well as on YouTube, this release does not seem to be a five-star release by any means. It´s obvious that Disney has chosen to recycle the film print used for the 1999 VHS and 2003 DVD releases, which should have been retired long, long ago. This ugly print features an unappealing navy blue tint that completely ruins the visual appeal of the film, making it look murky and over-saturated, instead of the beautiful story-book look of the original 1977 prints. This is a real shame because this decission makes a huge difference, robbing viewers of the opportunity to enjoy the film in full. The decision of including the insipid sequel instead of a library of new bonus material is hugely disappointing, enough to steal a few stars from the rating. Knowing the complex production history of the 1977 film, Disney was certainly not lacking material to create new featurettes and offer galeries of concept art and deleted material in terms of story, character, songs, music, etc. Despite this, the only new bonus feature included here will be one deleted song; ONE, even though at least FIVE were known to have been written...

In conclusion, based on the evidence that Disney has released thus far, this is certainly not a five-star release, yet already five five-star reviews have been posted. We can constantly complain that Disney continues to produce low-quality releases and still demand big prices for them, so I don´t understand why we praise (in advance, mind you) mediocre products.
