Excellent, easy-to-read & full of great photographs!, December 10, 1998

This was a great book! French Bulldogs are a relatively rare breed and it is really hard to find much info on them. So this book was well worth the $39.95 just to be able to see all the photos and illustrations. A MUST HAVE ffor any French Bulldog (or Bulldog) owner.

The best book available about flat faced dogs., October 29, 2008
This review is from: The flat face encyclopedia: Bulldogs and French bulldogs, A to Z (Hardcover)
I've had French Bulldogs for a long time. I was lucky, I was a member of the Dutch French Bulldog Club at the time, and could turn to numerous knowledgeable people if I needed advice. I've bought books that appeared to be about French or English Bulldogs, but they all turned out to have a few pictures of French Bulldogs, and other then that they were about dogs in general. There is nothing wrong with that information. However, this breed is a lot harder to care for than 'normal' dogs like retrievers, shepherds etc.
This book covers everything from food, skin care, pregnancy (altho you need professional advice and help on that before even THINKING about that subject), respiratory problems, temperament, physical abilities in respect to walks and play, dental issues and the specific needs these dogs have in warmer climates and high seasonal temperatures.
The aforementioned topics are important and of prime importance for this breed. And everything in alphabetic order!
All this information is combined with many beautiful pictures in color and black and white and drawings where pictures wouldn't be clear enough. These will make it very clear why this is such an adorable breed and why people fall head over heels in love with them, and never want to recover from that :-)
If you consider getting a pup or adopt an adult Bulldog, this book is an absolute must and worth e-v-e-r-y penny.
