About the Author
Jorge Luis Borges was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1899. A critic, poet and translator, Borges is best known for his erudite, complex, and fantastical stories. With works such as The Garden of Forking Paths and Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote, Borges helped define the concept of metafiction. He was awarded the World Fantasy Award, the Cervantes Prize, the Prix Formentor Prize (with Samuel Beckett), the Balzan Prize, the French LÃÂégion d Honneur, the Prix mondial Cino Del Duca, and the Edgar Allan Poe Award. He died in Geneva in 1986.
