Actually games cost $59.99 MSRP for 360 games, but Amazon usually takes off a small percentage and/or gives you credit for a lot of these titles and without having to pay tax and free shipping on Amazon most 360 games do not cost over $60 for anyone that buys them here. Also 360 games tend to get price drops more frequently and on more titles, so essentially they are cheaper. The 360 has plenty of quality games with single player and multiplayer. Yes shooters are the dominating genre of the 360 and that is just the way it is but there is still tons of fun shooters and non shooters on the 360.
Great Single Player shooters: Gears of War 1 & 2 Call of Duty 4 Fallout 3 Bioshock 1 Dead Space Singularity Halo 3 Alan Wake Battlefield Bad Company 2 Red Dead Redemption Borderlands Grand Theft Auto IV Mass Effect 1 & 2 Resident Evil 5 etc.
Great Singleplayer non-shooters: Oblivion Prince of Persia Prince of Persia and the Forgotten Sands Final Fantasy XIII Sam & Max Season 1 & 2 Burnout Paradise Secret of Monkey Island 1 & 2 Dragon Age: Origins Dragon Age: Origins Awakening Sid Myer's Civilization Revolution Dante's Inferno Fight Night Round 3 & 4 Batman: Arkham Asylum Lost Odyssey NBA Street Homecourt Tales of Vesperia Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Assassin's Creed II etc.
My point, 360 is not only for shooters and Multiplayer, just like the Wii is not only a novelty and shovelware platform.
Since we're on the topic of fanboy fighting, I really think the PS3 is a much better deal. I have all three systems and will probably be getting Metroid for my Wii. PS3 is like a fun hybrid of the Wii and the Xbox. Free online, HD, PSOne Classics, PS2 Remake Collections (for games I missed out on), fun exclusives like Heavy Rain and Infamous, blu ray / DVD compatibility, and 3/4 of the third party games available on xbox (the graphics aren't quite as good, but pretty close). The games are a little more expensive, but they're getting cheaper, especially if you know where to look. And they're DLC / online game pricing is more consumer friendly without having to buy blocks of points like 360 or Wii.
