5.0 out of 5 stars Hands down, the best board.
I bought my first Greco 2.0 over a year ago so I've had a couple seasons to really test it out AND get a feel for the customer service level of Greco. Let's start with the board and then move onto customer service.

3.0 out of 5 stars They are ok
These boards are ok for the price. Great for children. Still need to wax it for decent grip. The more expensive soft tops like Surftec would probably make an adult or the more experienced happier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hands down, the best board., June 4, 2011
I bought my first Greco 2.0 over a year ago so I've had a couple seasons to really test it out AND get a feel for the customer service level of Greco. Let's start with the board and then move onto customer service.

The Board
The size of an 8 foot board generally equates with a lot of weight. This can be burdensome for carrying, hauling, and paddling on it. The 2.0 is approximately 10 lbs. and makes easy jobs for carrying from the car to the beach (and back), weight on the top of the car roof, and making it out past the surf break.

The leash is a professional grade leash with thick, neoprene cuff for your ankle, 99 inch long (swivel to swivel) cord which is 7.5 mm thick, a couple stainless steel swivels (I use lithium grease on mine to keep them from developing resistance/to keep them turning easily from the fine sand/salt water that may get in there), and an 8 inch rail saver (the other side of the cord that connects the cord to your board; not your ankle).

There are 3 fins in what's called a "2+1 setup" (two outter fins of the same size with a larger middle fin that sits behind both of the smaller fins). Each fin has 2 nice screws each to hold them to the board (I recommend using a Susan B. Anthony coin to screw them in as it fits almost perfectly into the screw head and most screw drivers will only damage the screw heads because of bad fits). You can also use a quarter without any harm to the screws, but the dollar coins are even better.

I had never touched a surfboard in my LIFE before I got the 2.0 and got up on my FIRST try. My wife was the same way. In fact, I've had 5 other people on my board over the past 18 months or so and of those people, 4 of them have since gotten the 2.0 and now we all surf together in Galveston (some of the mushiest, choppiest, and hardest to surf waves around). They say if you can surf in G-town, you can surf anywhere. I'D say, you can surf ANYwhere--if you have the 2.0.

The foam in the board, and the slightly extra wideness of the board, provides the buoyancy and foundation to make it EASY to catch a wave without having to paddle like the pro's do (I've seen some guys paddle like a mad men in both Hawaii and Texas to catch a wave; experience/practice is a MUST to be able to do that with fiberglass boards). I've traded with some other local surfers to try out both long and short fiberglass boards and I can tell you from experience, that i'd much rather spend my time having fun rather than working hard out there. I can't just enjoy myself with other boards I've tried. It's a lot of work to keep the board under me since it sinks more into the water, I struggle more to swim myself AND the board out past the surf, I sturggle more to catch waves and on the off chances I do catch one, it's always short lived compared to riding the waves almost all the way into shore like I do on my 2.0. Add that the 2.0 is more durable than a fiberglass board (won't crack/take on water) and that it doesn't leave me or my wife with bruises on our knees, and it's a no brainer. Oh--and have I mentioned that there is NO other longboard that even comes CLOSE to how low the price is on the 2.0???!!! You'll waste hundreds more on fiberglass boards!

I'd suggest waxing the board as this makes a great difference in my own personal ability to stay on the board. I'd go with sticky bumps before the other popular brand (sx wax) as it lasts MUCH longer.

Customer Service
I cannot say enough great things about the customer service from Greco Surfboards. Todd is an amazing leader and has built an amazing company. I didn't think to grease my swivels when I first went out surfing. The second time I took my board out (after it had a month or so to sit with salt water/sand in the swivel), the swivels didn't turn as well and I didn't know what to do about it to I just went out surfing again as is anyway. Of course, the leash broke at the cuff/swivel because it didn't turn when I got pummeled by a 7 ft wave). I wrote Todd Greco to see if he sold just the leashes and within the next week I had a brand new leash and on top of that, he sent me a traction pad because he felt the leash should have lasted longer than it did. I was more than pleased with this resolve.

I signed up for the monthly emails they send out to their fans and have gotten incredible deals from Greco that way as well. In January they had a buy 2 boards, get 1 free deal. That's 80 bucks off each board!!! I've also gotten a 50% discount on their new wetsuits that will be out later this month. I've also gotten in on one of those monthly deals even AFTER the month ended/the deal passed. All it took was a quick email to Greco and I was extended the big discounts on the boards I was interested in (they arrived last week, in fact). I cannot say enough good stuff about this board, the Greco Surfboard company, and their incredible and over-the-top customer service. I am in no way affiliated with them (though if I read this review, I'd be like, "This guy must be his brother or something."). Google Jonathan Canlas (this is my real brother).

Much thanks to the Greco team for making a great board, selling it at an incredible price, and for making sure your customers stay satisfied after the sale has been made!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Board, Awesome Price, Spectacular Customer Service, May 29, 2011
I bought my board through Amazon and found I could not choose a color. Then I went to their site and found I could have done so through their site. So I emailed Greco, fully expecting an answer in several days. About 15 minutes later I had a response from Todd Greco. He advised me what to do and helped me from his end so that I could have the blue surf board I really wanted. We talked back and forth several times via email that day, and I was a happy girl. That was on a Tuesday. On Friday I had a surfboard on my front porch. I live in Georgia!! I am sure it costs them a whole lot more than the $12 for shipping to ship an 8 foot board too. The board is amazing. It is at least $100 less than the competitors. Now I haven't had it long, so perhaps they don't last; I really could not say at this point, but for the money what does everyone want? If you want a $400 board, then go and buy one. Me? I'm just grateful that a $200 board is available while I learn, so if I don't keep it up than I haven't lost as much. And if I do keep it up than I can graduate up to a fiberglass board or something. I may not even want to, but in my mind that is the worst case scenerior. The people who complain about it's quality really need to ask themselves why they feel they need to get something for nothing. I feel I got at least as good a board as I paid for, and I probably got one even better. Thanks Todd for the great service including the positive comments which made me really excited about learning to surf at my "advanced age" of 50! You guys are totally tubular! Oh yah, that's right that went out in the 80's!!!! I guess "Cool" and "Groovy" are out now too hugh? Oh well... but remember one and all that it was my father's generation that made surfing the popular sport it is today! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great boards! Great price!, November 17, 2010
By
We ordered a few of these for our surf camp and was skeptical about doing so online having never seen these boards before. (We were using the INT and BZ boards). Well its been a couple months now and we love them. I'm not a big reviewer but I thought I'd throw my two cents out there to help others. All of us instructors love them too. There is a turned down rail towards the tail with a two plus one simulation set up so it turns and grabs really well. It has a lot of float as there is a nice amount of foam on the rocker. Flimsy fins don't really help but what can you do, all soft surfboards have them. Overall great board, great price and great customer service.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best foamie "funboard" on the market, August 1, 2011
I bought this personally from Todd Grecon in Manhattan Beach and attest to fantastic customer service as well as a wonderful product. It is a great board for beginners to learn to surf as well as intermediate surfers. It can turn great and I learned to surf the wave face riding the 8foot Greco. I love it's durability and portability. Todd has hand designed the board and is a state famous surf educator. The rails are beveled not rounded like the cheap costco board which make it a more realistic transition to an epoxy/fiberglass board. Plus you can call up Todd personally anytime with his company number and he will answer any questions.
For example while surfing I was cut off and a small 1inch slash was put on the surface and he instructed me on the best way to repair the damage, even though the foamie is so well designed it doesn't fill with water after a small surface slash.

Recommend for any beginner or experienced surfer in the market for a fantastic foamie board.

5.0 out of 5 stars Although my passion is to be in the air the water has been calling and I am loving it, June 2, 2011
I am an air traffic controller. Airplanes are my passion, I enjoy flying almost too much. During the spring though, my SoCal friends insisted that I must try surfing. So I finally did. We had a nice day out to the beach. The water yeah was a bit cold but the surf was fun. After falling a couple times and getting tumble in the water I decided that this is something I wanted to pick up.
After some research I looked into Greco. I like their prices and something else I got to admit was the "serving" part where they bring boards to Central American countries, I think that is really cool. So I contact them and got a nice 8' black greco, in my little surf experience I've never seen a black board before. Its been 9/10 times that I have used it and I really like it. I am still in a very beginner stage but the board holds me perfect I am 6'6" tall 195 lbs athletic guy.
Will always recommend this board for my level. They responded to my email right away. I am very satisfied with the Greco company.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Customer Service, Super Nice Board, March 15, 2011
My husband has been surfing on and off for the last couple years. Now, we want my kids to learn too. So I went with the 8' board, the 2.0. My husband is very impressed with the performance of the boards, because even though we bought the boards for the kids he gets to use them too. I personally have no idea a bout surfing or surfboards, but I am glad that I am hero at home for choosing the right board. So I can 100% recommend it. Also, the shipping service was very fast, fast as to two days after I purchased the boards. Great company!

5.0 out of 5 stars Da Bomb!!, June 3, 2011
Getting tired of borrowing boards from my friends, last summer (2010) I decided to look for my own board. And I found this 2.0 foam surfboard. This is going to be my second summer with it and still looks brand new -and I do get a good use out of it. It's totally buoyant, and easy to store. I have gone on surf trips along the coast and my Greco is just awesome. Looking into transitioning to their fiberglass sometime during the fall. But for now I will be enjoying my 2.0.
The people that helped me last year were nice. I broke my leash during the winter and they mailed one to my house for free, I though that was cool too. Good customer service there!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mexico Surf School! (my frind buy for me in California), April 13, 2011
My family own a surf school in Mexico. We needed some surfboards, so i ask my friend in California to check the Greco Surfboards for me. He called me back that the boards were really good quality and a good price, when changed to "pesos". So my family bought just 2 to try, and we brough them to Mexico. We are ready to buy 10 more, this boards are good for teaching, for beginners. We like that they speak spanish. Greco skype and email us back fast. We love Greco Surfboards!!!!

*I am Mason, I helped David and his family with the purchase of the boards. David asked me to please review Greco, as you can see I did not change a thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE MY GRECO (H) (H), March 31, 2011
THIS IS SUCH AN AWESOME BOARD!!!
This board made me fall in love with surfing. I always thought I would like to try surfing once. So my friend took me out and I really enjoyed, however he had a quiksilver surfboard -i think- and it was just too thin. He told me to get a foam surfboard. So i went with the Greco and all i can say that i absolutely love it. It holds me great in the water, its not heavy, and i dont have to be too "careful" with it. So it totally deserves the 5 *s loooooovee it!!!! I got a white one!
