About the Author

Marilyn Van Voorhis Wendler was born in Columbus Ohio and grew up in Washington Court House Ohio. She has lived in Maumee since 1959 and has spent many years researching area history. She currently serves as Public Historian for Maumee. Mrs. Wendler teaches Ohio History at University of Toledo and is a member of the board of Trustees Ohio Historical Society. She is currently the director of the Lucas County Maumee Valley Historical Society.
