I think this is a great board for a beginner, or for anyone who wants an easy-to-ride, fun board for the smaller surf.
Aerik
The boards catch the little waves easily and can ride the bigger ones with ease.

I bought this board for the family as a multi-purpose board for me to learn how to surf on and the kids to use as a paddleboard. It has filled both roles, and a third, wonderfully.

The kids (5 and 8) have actually started surfing on it too and I am likely going to pick up a smaller version of it specifically for them.

The most amazing thing about the board is the company. I emailed them a couple of times and almost instantly received a reply with very good informaton. The board itself is a great value and good quality.

If you want a board that smaller kids can paddleboard on and adults can play in the waves and learn to surf this is a good choice.

All the best,

Brett

Overall this is a great surfboard for people who are just beginning and just want to go out and ride most waves and have fun. I just started learning to surf and started on a 10 ft foam longboard. I wanted to buy one but it was hard to find any foam boards that big which were not expensive. I chose the Greco Eden 9 foot over a longer board because it is wider and thicker than most foamies. I could not be happier with my decision and the price cannot be beat. This board is easy to balance on and easily catches even the smallest of waves. For those just starting to surf seriously consider the Greco series.

Hello my lovely Amazonians,

I am writing this review after having purchased this board 6 months ago. Started surfing the small Northern California waves. I tried surfing a few times on another board, and could not really catch waves, so I picked up this foamie. I am 6' 185, and it holds my weight great. I rocked it for 4-6 months. First catching whitewash, then catching white wash and standing up, then catching the wave a little earlier, followed by being able to angle the board and ride down the wave. I did this from March-September 1-3 days a week. Surfing 1-6ft waves. Honestly I was catching many more waves that 95% of the people out there. This thing catches waves.

This board can ride down a wave nicely, there isn't much turning you can do, but you can turn enough to feel the wave, and move with it as it develops. It's nice and thick, long. Its tough to get it out past the break on a beach break however since its rather large, however when you paddle, you move fast. The board is rather smooth and needs base coat of wax, otherwise your wet suit slides around. The leash it comes with is great.

I took it to Lindamar Pacifica on a 4-6ft day, the waves were pretty strong but not outrageous. I rode a bigger wave about 1/2 to the beach. Started to paddle into the break as a wave came. I ditched the board, and swam into the wave. The wave was able to drag me quite a ways. When I got to my board, it was cracked in half. :(

The waves were not waves you would need a foamie for, or expect a beginner to be in. However, I didn't expect my board would have cracked that day, in that surf. I thought the surf would have had to be gnarlier. It's time for me to move onto a transition board, but its a real bummer I don't have anything for my friends to use anymore.

Overview:

Its a great board for your first board. Just keep it in small surf.

Great product for all the family.
Customer service is very nice, one of the fin broke after 8 months of use, they shipped a new one for free.
The only thing is that the foam does not behave very well under the sun and heat. Always put the fins up when on the beach and choose white to avoid overheating.
I strongly recommend this product!

I've ridden my white 9' Greco Eden for two sessions for a total of about 4 hours so far, and I love it. I bought it for two purposes, 1) to more easily catch the mushy little waves we have here in central California in the summer and 2) to teach my two boys how to surf.

This is my fourth surfboard, the other three also being foam boards. The board is thicker than my other boards by about half an inch, and has a bit more rocker (curvature). Despite being thicker, is actually weighs less than the beat up old 9' BZ I was riding most lately. The board is very floaty, easy to paddle, and is pretty resistant to pearling (going nose into the water). Yet I can maneuver it about as easily as my 8' Costco Wavestorm board. The bottom line for me is that I can catch waves on this board I'd miss on my other boards, and it's fun to ride.

I can't comment on the performance of this board compared to a fiberglass or epoxy board, but I can say I was able to catch waves and maneuver comparably to guys on those types of boards.

I think this is a great board for a beginner, or for anyone who wants an easy-to-ride, fun board for the smaller surf.

Oh, and all the stuff about the company is true too. Sadly, my board arrived with a small dent due to negligence from Fedex, and the company promptly replied (same day, usually) to all my email and offered me several options. In the end, I decided the dent was small and I just wanted to ride the thing. But the customer service was great.

Okay, so I haven't actually USED this board yet. And I rarely write reviews. But the sheer customer service of Greco has forced me to give it 5 stars already. Let me explain.

First star: I wasn't sure what kind of board to order, so I emailed the generic "info" email on Greco's website. It was about 11:30 p.m. on a Monday. Within 15 minutes, I got a detailed reply from the OWNER with some great advice.

Second star: Check anywhere else, and you'll find a $100 shipping charge for boards of this size. With Greco, it's free from their website (or a mere $30 if you order through Amazon).

Third star: A couple days after ordering my board, I noticed it hadn't been shipped yet. So I visited the Greco site. There, I found out that the entire staff was on a mission trip to Guatemala, teaching low-income kids to surf. This is where their profits go. To developing nations.

Fourth, fifth and, if possible, sixth star: When my board did arrive, I noticed the box had a huge rip in it that was taped back up. I opened the box and found the surfboard had been cracked in transit. I emailed the "info" email address again. And again, within an hour, the OWNER replied apologizing profusely and promising to take care of it immediately. I asked if he needed any tracking info or if I should re-tape the box or anything. He replied immediately with: "Nope I'll take care of everything. Monday/Tuesday I'll have you leave it outside your door for FedEx to pick up. Stay tuned. I will let you know. Sorry again."
