Does this community only consider books actually written in 19th century Britain or does it include more current books set in 19th century Britain?

Well, I am no authority, but I would think since this is called britlit classics, techinially it means Elizabeth Gaskell, Jane Austen, Thomas hardy, the Bronte sisters, etc.

However I love Larkrise to Candleford, the TV show, and it was actually written in the 20th century.

I thought of something else. There is another forum here, (very popular!) lots of posters! entitled- Historical Fiction Community. some of the books that are the latest additions to that community are by Georgette Heyer who did Regency romances, and Rosalind Laker. Both of them wrote in the 20th century. Georgette Heyer has passed away, but I believe Rosalind Laker is still alive, she has simply retired and is no longer writing. (so sad for me-I loved her books!)

Hmmm....well the title of the community itself is 19th Century British Literature so...I guess that would be the primary focus...that's actually why I popped on here. The Bronte's and Jane Austen are among my personal favorites!

Hi, When you search put in Classic British Literature that will take you to the masters of their age.
