Claycrete says:
!!SPOILERS!!
Scariest moment: In the beginning of F.E.A.R. when you walk out on to the roof and the main bad guy whacks you with his gun.
Most intense: Crawling through the radiation in MGS4 when you have to keep tapping triangle.
Most emotional: The sword going through Aris in FF7.
I sometimes wonder if maybe the really great games began with these moments and then had a game built around them, and then the real stinkers began with some exec telling programmers to do such and such because it'll make big bucks.

Paul says:
scariest: something in dead space, that game had moments when nothing would happen but it was still scary

intense: there's a lot,but that helicopter scene in Uncharted 2 comes to mind. the one where you are in the middle of a gun fight as the building is collapsing

emotional:killing the horse colossus in Shadow of the Colssus . It didn't do anything wrong and it wasn't even fighting back and here I am just killing it because I'm selfish.

Intense.. The first fight with the chainsaw guy in Resident Evil 4.. it was a long fight(short on ammo), and ended in my head being chopped off.. first time I remember seeing the hero get brutally killed like that..

Emotional.. KOTOR.. finding out about Revis(I don't know the name anymore.. its been a long time) was one of the most emotional times.. that I can remember in a game.

B.E.B. says:
Intense/Emotional: For me, in CODMW2, when General Shepherd shoots Ghost and Roach, then sets them on fire to burn the bodies. That kinda pissed me off

I agree about Dead Space. But not scary, just really creepy and spooky. And its the part with the child singing very morbidly closer towards the end of the game. Is in the opening credits too I think.

Almost anything from Silent Hill 2. That was a freaky game....especially if you understand all the references it makes throughout the story.

Most intense Silent Hill. The first is still the best. Most emotional.... Quite a few moments from Final Fantasy III american release on snes with Kefka...and Legend of Dragoon for the playstation when Lavitz gets killed.

whatever says:
Scariest: Alright, people are going to laugh but NES's Friday the 13th, whenever Jason appeared, it made this very loud chime/alarm sound that made me jump everytime he appeared. The game was pretty much animated and not very fun but that sound got me to jump almost everytime. Silent Hill One was pretty scary also, whenever those hard to kill flying insect monsters came around. Resident Evil 4 made me jump occasionally when the heads sprouted the tentacles.

Most emotional: I agree, FF7 Aries getting killed was the worst. I played the game when I was a kid, it really bothered me. The game was great but it was too sad. I also had a hard time with that first Zelda gameboy game, Links Awakening. It bothered me that everything ended up being a dream.

Most intense: The God of War battles against Ares and Zeus. Just the idea of fighting against the Greek Gods intimidated the heck out of me. If they were just regular made up video game characters, I highly doubt the effect would've been even close.

I'm going to add a topic: most annoying part/thing in video games.
I think its extremely annoying when you have a partner in a one player game & you have to constantly watch out for them & protect them. I hated it in Resident Evil 4, didn't buy Resident Evil 5 because of it and hated it in Fable (protecting the traders).
I think that idea in a game is crap. This makes a game suck, in my opinion.

Scariest: The first time the pyramid head shows up in Silent Hill 2, or maybe the hospital, I can't decide. Silent Hill 2 is the only game that really ever scared me.

Most Intense: For this one I had a hard time deciding because there are so many games with very intense parts. I decided to go with the part in Modern Warfare 2 when the helicopter goes down, your surrounded by Russians and the screen goes to black as everyone is running out of ammo.

Most Emotional: This definitely has to be the cutscene in Valkyria Chronicles when Isara dies. Also after that when Rosie sings at Isara's grave. By far the saddest part of any video game I've ever played.

Getting killed twice in MW2 - in "No Russian" and "Loose Finds".

Mirhderer says:
-Emotional- End of Kingdom Hearts (when Sora and Kairi can no longer hold on and it breaks into that gay song), EVERY SECOND of Shadow of the Colossus, Incinerating the Aperture Science Weighted Companion Cube.
-Intense- End of Demon's Souls "Tutorial" when you turn the corner only to find that giant troll thing and -bam- insta-death. Also, the end of Half-Life 2: Episode 2
-Scariest- Beginning of Resident Evil when the dogs jump through the windows.

T. Ferg says:
Pretty scary at the beginning of Resident Evil when you open the mansion door to try and leave and a dogs head jumps in. First time a game scared me.

Rhubarb says:
Intense: Trying to fight against all the Deathclaws at Ol' Olney in Fallout 3.

Scariest: Pretty much any part of Resident Evil 4, for me.

Emotional: The ending of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, after learning the details of the Boss's death.

Posted on Feb 23, 2010 7:47:35 AM PST
MGS4: Going through the microwave hall and the last fight against Ocelot.

A PoC says:
Scariest- Playing the original doom in pitch black, and hearing the hog-like sound of the pink bull looking monsters, then turning around to look directly into the mouth of one chomping on your skull. Very scary for the times.

Intense - First battle with Vergil in DMC3 in the rain on top of the tower. Craziness. I was sweating my balls off. My girlfriend was like "I can't even see you guys"...

Emotional - I agree with the original poster. Seeing Aeris die at the hands of Sephiroth.

B. Ahrens says:
Scariest - F.E.A.R., when walking past a cubicle in the beginning of the game and you look down at the floor only to see that creepy little girl furiously crawling towards you then she just dissappears!

Intense- Shadow of Colossus, pretty much every moment of that game (sans running to the next colossus)

Emotional - Ending of FFIX when Zidane runs to the middle of the Iifa tree to save Kuja and you see the entire thing collapse on top of him OR Getting through the Water Temple in Zelda:OoT...I'm pretty sure I cried tears of joy when it was over.

Brainspazm says:
Scariest: Seeing Pyramid Head on SH2

Emotional: Mio Chasing the butterfly at the end of fatal frame 2

Intense: Almost every fight in Bayonetta was intense.

Posted on Feb 24, 2010 11:13:41 AM PST
Emotional? Probably the entire ending sequence from Metal Gear Solid 3.

Intense? Most of my first playthrough of Resident Evil 4 was pretty intense.

Victor says:
Scariest: The entire time I was in The Cradle in Thief 3. The sound effects really freaked me out.

Emotional: I decided to play through as a darksider in KOTOR. Having the wookie kill his twilik companion just broke me up.

Intense: Playing the Omaha Beach level in Medal of Honor. The rest of the game just seemed relaxed compared to it.

Posted on Feb 24, 2010 12:23:31 PM PST
Emotional: Aeris being killed in FFVII, Lavitz dieing in Legend of Dragoon, End of FFX/IX, part where you find out the summoners die in FFX

Intense: If you play as a lightsider in KOTOR 1 and then turn against everyone at the end, Fighting Satan at the end of Dante's Inferno, Fighting Genesis at the end of FFVII: CC (for me one of the hardest final bosses ever), first time you run into a mob of supermutants in Fallout 3 and you are underleveled,

Treyvalyn says:
Scariest: Silent Hill 1 - The backalley at the beginning of the game. I played that game in the dark by myself (yeah I was an idiot). When the world goes to hell and those demon whatchamacallits come out with knives. Probably the last true scare I've had in a game. Some moments in Fatal Frame III was scary as well.

Intense: I'd have to agree with Rhubarb. Trying to take on those Deathclaws at a low level and low ammo was both scary and intense.

Emotional: Pick any RPG game and you'll have a moment. I have 3. Two have already been mentioned. Aeris dying in the middle of the game in FF7. Isara being shot and killed in Valkyria Chronicles. Truly never saw it coming. Lastly, in Lost Odyssey, when Kaim finds his long lost daughter after after just getting the memory of her back, he finds her dying of a condition. And most of all he's a grandfather. Her death and funeral were heartbreaking. Especially watching Cooke and Mack's response. Even the dream stories in Lost Odyssey could get even the most stone cold of people to shed a tear or so.
