Metal Gear Solid also got a remake for GameCube. Of course, since few serious gamers have a GameCube or Wii...

I love 'em, but only when I don't own the originals. If I have the original games on a separate system or whatever, I wouldn't buy a remastered collection. The only reason I can see people buying remastered collections is if they don't own at least one of the games in the series, or if they're trophy wh*res.

@tjm: Yeah, what's the story with Resident Evil Revival Selection? I don't see it for sale on Amazon. Is it really going to be just through PSN, or are they releasing it on disc?

on 360, capcom are punking out & instead of releasing the 2 games as a package on the XBLA like originally stated, they are releasing them seperately as new downloadable titles for 19.99$ each (supposedly so they could add more achievements - the XBLA limit is 200, usually about 10 cheevies. the games each will still only have 10 cheevies each, but have a total of 1000 points like a full retail release). this doesn't make a retail release seem likely, unfortunately.

i just want a buddy to play RE4 (he never has, cuz he thought it was like RE 1-3, and i want him to see how revolutionary it was), but that's gonna be hard to get him to spend 20$ (especially since he lives in the UK & it will probably be more expensive for him).

And I'm sure that's already been done before in many other discussions haha.

"tjm01572 says: ps. I would pay $500 for a remastered version of Final Fantasy 7 :) "

I don't know if I'd be willing to fork over that much, but I would gladly play $50-$70 for a current gen version of FF7 and 8, as well as Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Legaia (the orignal, not Legaia 2), and a few others. Sadly, about the only one that has a half a chance in ... is probably FF7.

I would love to get my hands on a copy of Downhill Domination that would run on my PS3 since I didn't purchase one of the origionals that were backwards compatible with ps2. That was an awesome game and I would love to see that game remastered.

Well for one, there is a difference between HD remastered PS3 games (meaning it's not ALWAYS tweaked to have more textures/detail) are mainly for those with HDTVs (and trophy hunters). There's nothing wrong with it. A lot of standard DVDs have picture issues with HD setups (Star Wars for example), so it's not much to complain about.
That + I'm all for them, price wise. Why should I have to pay 100 bucks just to play Tomba! 1 and 2 (each) let alone 65 bucks for FF7? When you own a game just to collect it rather than play it, that you have to sell it because it's a cult classic (check out the listings for Earthbound) then yeah, it's ridiculous.

Great point, dutchman! It appears as if the video game industry and Hollywood are walking hand in hand....

I Totally Agree! (Bring back the creativity like Psychonauts or Death Jr.!) I have a soft spot for those strange games and I am a RPG Final Fantasy Fan with some FPS needs too. Plus the good ole Tomb Raiders on the PS1 were the best over all. Especially since the graphics weren't the best, it just added something to the game that the current HD GEN can't give me. (Try 3D Dot Heros!!!)

Seems like a bit of a hustle to me, too. After all, it seems a little too convenient that Sony dropped backward compatablility from the PS3 for "cost reasons" shortly before they started releasing these HD remakes of classic games. Generally, I have mixed feelings about it. Being that I was never a Sony fanboy (I had an XBox before I got a PS2 and a 360 before I got a PS3) I never bought Ico or Shadow of the Collussus the first time through, so I am really looking forward to the opportunity, and will now play it in HD. That said, I already own God of War and found that to be a little unecessary (though I also understand that somebody out there who hasn't played those games yet would obviously disagree). All together, I think I'd rather have a backward compatable PS3 that can play PS2 games. Absent that, and since I barely have room in my living room to keep my PS2 hooked up anymore, I am thankful for the opportunity to get these great games and play them
