The discovery of a mysterious object in the Baltic Sea gets even stranger.

The circular shaped object is approximately 60 meters in diameter (not feet, as been reported). It is about 87 meters on the bottom of the ocean bed. Theories as to what it is run to crashed UFOs to ancient sunken villages. At sixty meters or 195 feet in diameter, it does not appear to be any man-made vehicle of known shape or size.

You can follow the action on a real time basis at http://bit.ly/FaceBookOceanExplorer

"Theories as to what it is run to crashed UFOs to ancient sunken villages."

Or a mud covered boulder pile or a hole in the seabed, or, as seems most likely given the side sonar reflection in the image, an exaggeration of a natural feature due to poorly calibrated equipment.

Philip -

I had posted this story in "Do Aliens Really Exist?" But thank you for starting a separate thread, since people will undoubtedly be discussing it for some time.

Even if it isn't a UFO, but a buried temple or parts of a submerged city, it will be interesting to follow as others investigate it. I watched "Ancient Aliens" last night, with an episode of "submerged cities". (One fact stated was that there are over 200 submerged once-cities in the Mediterranean alone!) And Atlantis was reputed to have been built in "concentric circles".

So thanks for starting this, so we can all follow and post on the story.

M. Helsdon says:
"One fact stated was that there are over 200 submerged once-cities in the Mediterranean alone!"

This is because the Mediterranean is where the African plate is hitting the European plate, resulting in some areas being uplifted, but many other coastal areas sinking. The oldest known submerged town is the bronze age Pavlopetri, whilst elsewhere some settlements, such as Herakleion and Eastern Canopus in Egypt were destroyed by earthquakes. There are numerous sunken sites in the Aegean and Adriatic.

"And Atlantis was reputed to have been built in "concentric circles"."

And closely resembles Thera, prior to the eruption, allowing for the age and dimensions to have been exaggerated by a factor of ten.

The geology of the Baltic, however, is very different from that of the Mediterranean.

Yep, new and old episodes of Ancient Aliens and old episodes of UFO Hunters was on last night. I think I deserve a medal for enduring Bill Birnes, Giorgio, Erich von Dumb-a-kin and that Childress wimp. His voice grates on your nerves.

Anyway. The Submerged Cities episode shows the Bimini Road. Of course they want you to think it's part of Atlantis. I'ved dived on the Bimini Road three times. I know this is tough to hear. It's beachrock. Nothing more. When you get down next to it and look at it, it doesn't look anything like a road or a wall.

The new episode of Ancient Aliens would have us believe that the aliens had nothing better to do than come here and do genetic experiments on animals. They took a lion and a crocodile and an eagle and put them together to make animals to scare the natives. The fact early man spoke of such creatures proved to the Ancient Alien people such creatures must have really lived. After all early man would never lie or exaggerate, or think in terms of metaphors.

They used such concrete examples too. Did you know the Loch Ness monster was an alien made creature? Know how we know? Saint Columba was in the area around 550 AD and he wrote about seeing the creature and saving someone from being killed by it. Another expert on Loch Ness said that lights have been seen around the loch and they are not planes or conventional aircraft. So they must be ufos and they must be there because of the Loch Ness monster, so the monster must be real and it must have been put there by aliens. That makes sense. Right?

Giorgio thought some of the flying big birds were in fact ufos in disguise.

We went out west and were told how the ant people and the snake peoople came out and saved the indian population from being killed by a giant meteor that crashed into earth eons ago. The ant people and the snake people took the indians deep underground and that's why they survived and why their culture says their ancestors came from within the earth. The ant and snake people were mutants made by the aliens for the purpose of saving the indian and since they were ants and snakes that allowed them to burrow deep into the earth and save the indian from extinction.

Question? Why didn't the ant and snake people come up and save the indian from the white man? The white man used genocide against the indian. If there was a time for the ant and snake people to show up, this was it.

Looks like we're in for another exciting season of hard science and truth courtesy of Giorgio.

I almost forgot. A week or two ago some guy with the Edgar Cayce Institute claimed they'd found the top of a structure coming out of the sand somewhere near the Bimini Road. Of course when they went back it was covered up by the sand and for some reason not made clear, they can't or won't get a sand sifter to move the sand away. Once again we're so close to proving that Atlantis was real and then the secret gov't. comes in and they cover up the truth. Literally! Makes you really hate sand! Darn those secret people. If they weren't so secret, we'd know the truth by now! But all was not lost. The guy from the Cayce Inst. has a new dvd out. Isn't that a coincidence?

Another possibility is that it is a collapsed caldera. As someone who is very familiar with side scan sonar, I find the images fascinating.

Unlikely in the Gulf of Bothnia. A small impact crater is slightly more probable, and a feature resulting from glaciation is possible, either a kettle depression or material dumped by a glacier.

You are probably right. It is most probably a very prosaic feature, but you have to admit that it is not a bad thing to speculate about other things.

Ronald Craig says:
Maybe not a bad thing, but speculating that it's a crashed UFO is rather silly.

But some people don't mind looking rather silly. ;)

This is the only article on this seabed craft that noted it had been "updated". Possibly the clearer picture of the craft on the sea floor. (Obviously not a sink-hole!)

It's the same image, which has simply been pushed in contrast and gamma. It also includes the original, complete with its suspicious mirror image, indicative of a fault in the calibration of the sensor.

Still looks like a hole or mound of rock.

And going to the horse's mouth, instead of a tabloid newspaper:

PRESS RELEASE
OCEAN EXPLORER, FINDER OF THE MYSTERIOUS 197 FEET OBJECT IN THE BALTIC SEA PREPARES FOR OPERATION BALTIC DISCOVERY

Treasure Hunters Plan to Confirm their Find with Scientific Answers

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - 8/9/2011- On June 19th the Swedish-based diving company Ocean Explorer discovered something they've never quite seen before. They were exploring in the Baltic Sea between Sweden and Finland looking for sunken treasures when a very unusual image suddenly appeared on the sonar. A 197 feet diameter cylinder shaped object was discovered at the depth of approximately 275 feet. Treasure hunters, Peter Lindberg, Dennis Aasberg are in the midst of planning for their next excursion; to find out what's there, and how it ended up in the Baltic Sea. Ocean Explorer's Operation Baltic Discovery will unveil what people around the world are waiting to find out- What's really there?

"We need to know what we've found. Media has been speculating about everything from UFOs to Russian space ships. What we know at this point is its size and shape and we also know, based upon the sonar image, that there is a ridged tail going from or to the cylinder shaped anomaly of about 1 600 feet throughout the bottom of the sea,"said Peter Lindberg, one of the professionals at Ocean Explorer.

"We cannot tell when it was placed in the Baltic Sea, if the object was dumped into the sea or if it's a natural phenomenon," continues Mr.Lindberg.

Ocean Explorer is currently accepting in-kind donations and corporate sponsors to complete Operation Baltic Discovery. In addition, fans and supporters can purchase Ocean Explorer logotype T-shirts on the company's website.

"We are determined to successfully complete our mission of finding out what's at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. Because of the sea depth, it is a risky operation that requires a lot of planning, strategy and financial resources," said Dennis Aasberg, one of the three professionals at Ocean Explorer in Stockholm, Sweden.

I don't belong to facebuck so I do not any photo. Neither do I see one in MM's link.
Is this blue image what you all are seeing?

I'm assuming. It's only natural to assume (initially at least) that the people we're interacting with here are normal enough to be allowed to drive in most States. ;)

I've never seen her post anything about having had her license revoked, or being opposed to cars & driving because it harms the flowers and fuzzy-wuzzies. Anything's possible, though...

No, I don't have a webcam to post a photo either.

The mystery of why no one is going down to study that disc on the bottom of the ocean, may have many reasons.

1) Nearby countries may claim it, and/or forbid any "unauthorized" exploration.
2) The money and equipment to properly explore it may be lacking.
3) It may be secretly "guarded" by a surface ship of some global intel organization, who is forbidding exploration.

NOTE: Did you know that History Channel switched their usual Thursday night lineup of "Ancient Aliens" to last night, Wednesday? I watched the lineup, and their original episode of "Evil ET Places That Kill People" was very interesting! Especially their last story on "big cauldron weapons" in remote Russia, that have sank into the permafrost, but are said to still be able to rise-and-shoot.

Maybe this is where the mysterious beam-blast came from, in that famous orbital shot of a ufo approaching, then quickly doing a 180 before a beam-blast bursts up thru the clouds at it?

Tonight History Channel is repeating their "Hunt for bin Laden" program. Probably since that hoax-raid is coming under increased and hostile scrutiny. (Holder's DOJ continues to refuse all FOIA requests!)

Instead of baseless speculations, why not visit the Ocean Explorer's website?

Quote: 'We are negotiating with media companies, sponsors, investors and others to be able to carry through the project in the best way. We can't reveal at this stage which companies or persons who are involved due to their wish for secrecy.'

So they are waiting for money, and their website includes a means to donate hard cash. So if you are so interested in this, donate your dollars...
