Not completely unappreciated as it did get some radio play and 1 crappy music video, but Earth to Andy - Chronicle Kings was a pretty good rock album. I was disappointed that it was all they ever released.

When Brian L Plante says "rock from bands that aren't p***y's" .... does he mean he doesn't like contributions from any women in his music? Sounds a little bit sexist... you named a lot of bands that just do heavy music... what about artists with a little bit of the "other side" of macho heavy to balance it out??? The best rock is a balance of heavy and light... not just heavy sludge to the head masculinity music.... are you afraid some emo music shows too much femininity by having emotions that aren't normally expressed in your super heavy selections??

Under-appreciated? Morphine, Mr. Bungle, Kyuss. All have been cited by numerous bands as having major influences on them.

Brainiac's albums Hissing Prigs in Static Couture and Bonsai Superstar. I almost never hear anyone talk about Brainiac.

The Smithereens. A power pop band to end all power pop bands; their sound is a perfect mixture of themselves, Cheap Trick, the Beatles and the Who rolled into one, and their album catalogue is amazingly great. From New Jersey, they are also STILL a great live act, funny and rocking at the same time. These guys should have been huge with proper radio and marketing support. As it stands, they remain one of America's finest rock 'n roll bands.

Possum Dixon reminded me a lot of The Violent Femmes... both had a great first album, 3-piece with a dry plaintive vocal and acoustic bass sound.
