The announcement typically comes out in late November or early December.

Previous ABNA announcements
ABNA 2013- December 4, 2012.
ABNA 2012 -December 6, 2011.
ABNA 2011 - December 1, 2010.

I'm going to guess it's safe to say that the announcement will come out the first week of December.

The previous entry submission periods were as follows

ABNA 2013: January 14, 2013 - January 27, 2013
ABNA 2012: January 23, 2012 - February 5, 2012
ABNA 2011: January 24 - February 6, 2011

So I'd guess entries will be accepted for ABNA 2014 from mid-late January or late January-early February

Maybe Amazon's not going to hold the contest this year.

And Xmas will be postponed to mid-February because of climate change.

That's possible. Or they may be building anticipation by this seeming delay.

The first few ABNA's were a bit later each year. Lately they've more or less settled on late November, early December for the announcement. I'm pretty sure they'll have it again this year.

Seems like we didn't hear until early January and then all of a sudden there were new rules, etc. It was a lot to digest in a short period of time. I remember vassilating between calling my novel YA or Scifi/fantasy.

The last two announcements for 2012 and 2013 were on Tuesdays. Maybe tomorrow will be the day. Can't wait to jump in. This contest is the best ever.

The announcement typically comes in late November/ earlyDecember then entries get accepted in January. The first year entries were accepted way back in November. I don't know when, or even if, they formally announced it year one, but I stumbled upon it and back then you would register, be given a code and allowed one week to submit your entry using the code. Since then they've streamlined the entry process. It was sometime in November when I entered that first year. The next couple of years they drifted back two to three weeks each year in making the announcement and starting the comp until they more or less settled on early December for the announcement and January for the entries. We'll probably hear something this week or next. If we don't hear anything then we can all start getting nervous about whether or not they'll have it again. I think they'll have it though. It's just a question of when.

From a purely promotional standpoint, I would announce on January first, which is the release day for last year's winner.

Last year was late because Penguin had merged and I think Ammy was trying to get the new contest in order. It'll be soon but the submission won't be until mid January.

Man, now all of a sudden I'm starting to get psyched. Just hit me, all the fluttery butterflies that get in my stomach whenever I enter this competition. Never mind I never seem to make it far, it sure is fun. And I'm glad I stuck with this forum all year instead of petering out like I normally do. I've learned so much from all you guys--that alone is worth joining the contest.

Heehee! Nikki said 'petering'!

Either tomorrow or after the holidays . . . I think they like Tuesdays. I hope this is still a go. It would be sad if ABNA is canned. I can't image why, but all good things seem to come to an end. NO WAY . . .

I agree. This is one of the few forums where writers actually share help as opposed to promoting and insulting. Its a great place and fortunately, few trolls ever come here.
