I read you wrong JoAnne, Thought you were anti-deist. I get them wrong often, no biggie. Anywho, I too have heard folks claim that Obama is the greatest, but in questioning them I quickly find that they no little of what they talk. I met one in some sort of line for free "Obama" money for something. While there a reporter questioned this lady about why she was there and for what. She replied she was there to get some Obama dollars. When queried what were Obama dollars she just showed that she had no idea that welfare types of money are not invented by Obama nor the government, they are funds taken from those that produce. Foreign talk to her. And we let her vote. amazing. I could go on and on, but my experiences seem to be similar to yours. Good luck in your journey from an atheist to a theist :)

Jesferkicks: No I am definitely not an atheist. God is my life. I got a really good laugh at your story! I, like you, am sure there are people like that everywhere in this country. The News is foreign to them. They never pick up the paper except for the ads and garage sales! But we must all pay for the sins of the people! I think maybe I'm going to send a blessing your way Jef.....just cause you are a nice person. Don't be offended!

Actor Jon Voight

This is so worth watching (it's short) but he's one actor that
has signed his death warrant in the movie business! Jon knows
what is actually more important, to stand against the onslaught of
Marxism Socialism.

Not everyone in Hollywood is blind to what is going on.

This took real guts by Voight, who probably just ended his
career in Hollywood.

Help get this to as many people as you can.

"God hates evil" is in the Bible!
Why when everything is going great and everyone is happy do people not blame God, but when something bad happens, all of a sudden it's Gods fault??? Fact is, He makes the rain to fall on the just and the unjust alike, which is in the Bible as well. Nature is groaning and travailing waiting on the revealing of the Sons Of God. Groaning and travailing causes tsunamis.
Cancer is a product of a fallen world. In the beginning there was no cancer or any sickness at all. However through thousands of years of depravity, we have more sickness than we know what to do with.
If you don't believe it's depravity, just research how Aids started. AIDS is one of the biggest cancers of all.

If god hates evil and is omnipotent, why doesn't he/she prevent it.
I don't believe in god so can't say much about the blame game.
About the rain, next time you talk at him/her remind that we need some in southwestern USA.
A tsunami is caused by a rapid, massive shift in oceanic crust displacing a large volume of water.
Cancer is a product of genetic mutations.
AIDs is not a cancer, it is the result of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) which was transferred to humans (probably through a bite) from non-human primates in Sub-Sahara Africa.

R. Haug says:
Ha, you need to do more research on AIDs. I had a family member die from it and remember when it first became big news. The news stories back then traced it to one man... The American Government originally hid it from the population fearing panic and thus started an epidemic. At that time, information on using protection was more about avoiding pregnancy than it was about avoiding STDs. I was not saying AIDs is cancer, I was saying it's "a" cancer. Much like bigotry or hatred can be "a" cancer.
As for not believing in God, that would make you god. Because in order to say there is no God, you would have to be all seeing and all knowing which only God is!!!
So when you get a chance, dump some rain on the southwest. lol.

Jesferkicks says:
I need to perform more research on AIDs because you had a family member die of it? Hmmm. And I assume you have a reputable source to back your claim that our government hid the disease from the population. According to the CDC and NIH, fairly reputable entities, the HIV came from a certain type of chimp in a certain place in Africa and jumped to those tribesmen who hunted said chimp for food.
CDC Source: http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources/qa/definitions.htm
NIH source: http://www.niaid.nih.gov/news/newsreleases/1999/Pages/hivorigin.aspx

I know what you meant about AIDs & cancer. I was being flippant.

You state that to say there is no god, I would have to be all seeing and all knowing which only god is.
Do you just make this stuff up as you go along? I submit that any reasonable individual who took a gander at the universe from the macro (billions of galaxies each containing billions of stars) and the micro (the wonders of quantum mechanics) along with the sheer age of the earth, much less the age of the universe proper and would have to perform some pretty amazing feats of conclusion making to figure a god did all this. Secondly, if a god did all this, does one (1) really figure that he/she would give a flying you-know-what about us puny little ant-like, pathetic wretches sitting out here in an insignificant solar system, hanging on the end of a spiral of stars spinning around an insignificant galaxy way out here where nothing cosmologically is going on? If you're correct, then the god of this earth is a minor league player in the realm of gods in the universe.

But, since now I'm a god, I'll catch a plane and dump some rain on the southwest. I really need to practice flying by myself, the boarding process for airplanes is such a hassle.

You are correct, to become President of the United States one must be a citizen of same.

Do you really think that's going to satisfy him? One simple internet search for Obama's birth certificate would give you thousands of results showing that same document. Some Americans just really want to believe that Obama is not their president. And they make up these crazy reasons to justify it.

R. Haug says:
First, about the Government... I don't know your age, but what I know is from early on when the information was fresh. As always the Government decides what people should or should not know. President Roosevelt was crippled from Polio, yet it was hidden from Americans for years in fear that it would make him appear weak. When Aids started there was no internet, so the information was easier to hide.
As for God... The fact that you are trying to explain away the obvious fact that there had to be a creator to create such an amazing universe proves that you must believe in things more impossible then the idea of God. Study the astronomical impossibilities of all things just happening as they have and there is no other conclusion. However, the natural man cannot understand the things of the Spirit, because they are Spiritually discerned.
What I said about you being god is obvious and the fact that you pretend not to get it, does not make it less true. If you say there is no God, then you must know everything. Are you really saying that there i nothing you don't know??? If that's not what you are saying, then how can you know for sure that there is no God??? Are you saying that you have experienced everything that every other person has ever experienced??? Come on, if you have not, then you cannot in all truth KNOW that there is no God. And, if that's the case, then the mere fact that there could be a creator, would send any thinking man on a journey to discover the truth.

Now you are not really seriously believing that is his birth certificate? The man was not born in the USA. He is as bogus as a $3 dollar bill!

I think everyone knows that if you are an American. If all things were perfect in this world, that would stand up against all odds. But this being an imperfect world who have imperfect people with evil deeds on their agenda, things can be fixed so that no one knows this man is not an American citizen. Hence the fake birth certificate. If it was not fake, why may I ask, did Obama not allow it to surface until now? If he was truly an American with no hint of a foreign born background, why has his college records been hidden from public eyes? It is so sad that this man who is president of our great nation has hoodwinked a whole society of people into believing he is a good president. The Blacks want him as president because he is black. The Hispanics want him as president because he wants to open wide the borders and let illegals come in and take over this country. Muslims want him because he too is Muslim. Although he does not shout it from the rooftops everyone with a clear knowlege of him knows he is Muslim, including all Muslims. The people who never read a newspaper or look at TV news or hear any kind of news at all have no idea what is going on, so IF they actually DO vote for some reason, they are going to vote for him on the basis that he has been president for 4 years so they will vote for him again.Well DUH! I know that I will never convince anyone who is FOR him that he is a bad president. Minds are made up. But when this country falls into a socialist nation, if he is re-elected, remember who put it there! The man you believe is a 'good' president that is who will do it! May God have mercy on us all.

"The inane discussions about the false idea that Obama is not an American have no place on the Amazon site. I am a regular Amazon shopper, but am considering using other, less offensive vendors in the future, because this kind of hate speech should not be given a home on these discusison boards."

As you can see Rebecca from some of the lunacy and downright idiocy that followed your OP when the birthers came out from under their rocks, there is a very good reason why Amazon has created forums for them. It is an attempt, although not a particularly effective one, to give them a place to play with their tinfoil. It is like a quarantine room in the hospital. By collecting the crazies in one place they spend less time on other places.

But like moths to a flame, as soon as you posted this here they come over to profess their deficiencies.

Look, your point is a good one in the sense that Amazon is tarnishing their brand and doing their shareholders a disservice by turning their site into a low-end Yahoo chat-room. I'm not just talking about birthers now, this place is filled with people willing to spew all sorts of banalities, inanities, and lunacies. I think it makes Amazon look pretty bad and if some well-known blogger ever started linking to some of the choicer bits I think Amazon would be very embarrassed.

But this is their site and if they decide to make Amazon a gathering place for malcontents, well, at least they can try to keep some of the crazies in smaller rec-rooms.

Who cares? I'm not an Obamanite but what difference does it make what they say? I'm more concerned about the poverty and the homelessness that Obama has created.

If you don't like what people are saying about Obama, then click the little link that says "Ignore this customer". It works great.

Yes, you are correct. One must be a natural citizen to be President. I'm pretty sure Hawaii qualifies since it became a US territory in 1898 and the 50th state in 1959.

Yes I tend to agree the government tends to decide what it wishes the populace to know. Your Roosevelt analogy is weak because his disease was hidden because it was thought to be in the best interest of the nation by BOTH parties of leadership. The Obama quandary is only supported by the Democratic party. Do you really think the Republican political machine is so inept that it can't discern the validity of said document? As far as AIDs I obviously wasn't in any decision rooms so can't comment on its handling by the government. What I do believe are the reports of its origin by the aforementioned entities adding only that the investigations resulting in the reports those two entities published were international in staffing. I stand by my remarks on the virus' origin.
Our god conversation is going nowhere, I conclude I have nothing on that subject to learn from you. That's the last I have to say on the subject.
