I can play movie previews via the HDMI out (to my TV) from my ipad. I only get audio only when I play a movie.

Bummer. I guess I will need to try iTunes and Netflix.

L. Braddy says:
Why? None of the other apps do this. My expensive Samsung Tv doesn't have the Instant Prime Video. This needs to be changed.

This really is a feature that Amazon should enabled. I can stream movies from Amazon to my TV using my laptop, how is it any different to use the iPad?

It's probably a feature from Apple to prevent Amazon Prime from competing with iTunes.

I will no longer buy/rent from Amazon until this is fixed.

So disappointed. I would prefer to buy and rent from Amazon but now I won't until this issue is resolved. Back to iTunes it is.

I just bought a movie with the intent of watching it on a big screen, but can't do it through my ipad or computer. Went with Amazon because it was cheaper than itunes, but at least with itunes the HDMI would connect with my iPad. Will not be purchasing any more videos through Amazon until this is resolved.

Is this something that will be corrected in the future? Is it a short coming from Amazon? Or is it something that Apple is not allowing to keep Amazon Instant Video from competing with iTunes?

yes, this limitation is crazy considering that all my other more abuse-friendly devices like Imac, PC, etc stream hdmi perfectly.

It is interesting that no one from Amazon has commented.

I did the same thing. I'm very disappointed with Amazon's video service. This is the last video I will buy from them until this problem is fixed.

There is contact support option for the app
Under settings . I have sent them a support
Request since I actually pay for the service
Under my prime membership.

I have prime. Will drop it soon if this is not fixed. Once gone I'm not returning to amazon for anything. Tear up that card too.

Amazon instant video does not work with HDMI connection from iPad. I am disappointed and have canceled my membership. I think this a big mistake on Amazon's part

This is a joke. I buy a movie for my kids to watch only to find out not accessible with hdmi. This needs to be fixed.

I don't think the problem lies with Amazon, it is a Apple required limitation, so you have to use iTunes. Makes me regret buying an iPad.

S. Elliott says:
Keith, if it were an Apple required limitation why isn't Netflix or Apple streaming Video limited?

It would be helpful if someone from Amazon would respond and clear this up.

I also recently subscribed (30 day free trial) to Prime only to find my iPad3 will not work via AirPlay to my TV which is connected via HDMI. This is such a standard thing to do these days that I was very surprised at this failure. I have contacted Amazon --- since I will cancel the free subscription if I can't get this to work --- but have not gotten a response yet. I agree with DAG --- HELLO AMAZON, you've got some splaining to do!! Time to speak up and let us know what is going on.

Epic fail! I also got little input from Amazon on my LG TV and an Amazon APP.
