I will basically say the same thing that almost everyone here has said - Amazon Prime is COMPLETELY worth it if you are a person who will shop online for even the smallest little thing (as Wayne pointed out, even a screw haha. this is so ME). To add something to the discussion, I'd also like to say that having Prime membership actually compels me to buy stuff from Amazon rather than buy it off of other sites (which I admittedly frequent, like Newegg.com and even ebay.com) even though it might be $2-$5 cheaper on there. The luxury of getting an item in 2 days guaranteed and for FREE, as opposed to anytime between 5-12 days (shipping costs may apply to them) is heavenly to me.

I have made over 30 orders here in the past 6-7months since I got Prime and had free 2-day shipping on all of them. Imagine an average of $5 shipping rate for 3-5 days per item. That's $150 for 30 orders! Imagine half your orders having SUPER-SAVER shipping - that makes it $75 for 3-5 day shipping. $4 short of Prime membership? Now factor this - for 2-day shipping, its a minimum of $6 and max $12.50. Average = $9 approx. For 30 shipments = $270! Is Prime Justified now? I think so!

Also, count the fact that I have Amazon Student-Prime, which means I pay $39/year and my first year was free! That is ridiculous value. If you're a student, there is NO reason you should not have Prime. And even if you aren't, with all the offers on video streaming, ebooks for the kindle and other offers out there, plus the free 2-day and $3.99 1-day shipping, I see no reason why one shouldn't get Prime membership if they are a frequent online shopper, especially on a site that graciously accepts returns and issues refunds! I couldn't be happier :) Get it, if you know you shop quite a bit! :)

So far, I am not impressed.

I signed up for the trial on Wednesday and ordered a couple of Blu-Rays thinking I would have them by Friday. Well today is Friday and come to find out that they held up my order because one of the items wasn't available, even though it was listed as in stock when I ordered.

Amazon wants me to pay $80 a year and they don't ship my items as promised? Why didn't they rush my other items out and notify me of the delay with the other item, why am I receiving notification after the fact. The rest of the order, still hasn't shipped, it feels exactly the same as waiting for Free Shipping anyway.

For a first time Prime user, they seriously dropped the ball with me. I'll be dropping the membership after my trial ends.

Been a Prime person twice the past years as I get PO'd at Amazon for something or other, and unsubscribe from Prime occasionally. BUT...NO - Prime isn't usually 'worth it' to me..I am currently a Prime subscriber. Amazon has a HUGE warehouse in Fernley,NV and I'm in Vegas so..many of my Prime Next Day ($3.99 each) actually come UPS Ground from within m my own state ..no problem. BUT now I have learned this. If your residence or business delivery address is close to an Amazon warehouse -and- they have your item there..free ground shipping gets it to you FREE in 1 or 2 days maximum without a $79/year Prime membership. Once my Prime expires I'll start calling Amazon Customer Service [1-866-216-1072] and find out where a desired item item ships from BEFORE I order. My REAL BEEF is with fraudulent Amazon Marketplace resellers..<-- they are ALL crooks..well many are I know!!

I ordered several items 8 days ago and decided after to sign up for Amazon Prime. My amazon prime order will be here tomorrow, yet I am still waiting for my order from 8 days ago just to be shipped. I am wondering if amazon is trying to delay shipping to get more people to sign up for prime. I might just be paranoid, but I have tried to cancel my orders several times and each time I get a message saying it could not be canceled due to some error in the system or whatnot. Makes you wonder....

I have seen those same error messages on screen. Normal stuff..not a 'conspiracy' - ok? Maybe there is email from Amazon Prime in your junk folder.
The nice people here can sort this out and help you further with any order changes etc. Amazon.com - 1-866-216-1072 customer service 24/7

I really like the idea about free 2 day shipping. Its not worth it for me however. I dont shop very much to make it worth the price. I can definitely see the advantage for someone who buys frequently though.

it still looks like the Video streaming is lame. old junk that nobody wants to watch unless you're a loser.
terribly hard-to-use interface because they are embarrassed at their lousy content.

An accurate description of Amazon Instant Prime Videos. Another complaint is that several really good British series e.g "Foyles War" are free for two or three seasons then charge per episolde- a little underhanded. Since Amazon will start charging sales tax in many syates- it's becoming less of a value.

FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS: $39 annually after 1st year FREE

My first year of Prime was free, then they offered Prime at half the price for my second and third years, so I'm pretty much locked in at a rate of $39/yr for life (I hope). Let me tell you, it is WORTH EVERY PENNY if you order from them as often as 2 or 3 times a month. For textbooks alone, it is worth it, and every order that I've made has been hassle-free. Streaming wise, I don't know how well that works; I'll find out soon enough.

I was skeptical but since I signed up yes it is very much worth it. Knowing you aren't paying shipping as long as you get eligible items makes shopping online the best way to shop. Much more selection than box stores, better prices, and customer reviews and searching the browser not endless isles.

I had no idea how much shipping costs were holding me back from doing all my shopping online, its a paradigm shift in the making to be sure. I am very much looking forward to forgetting how to get to Walmart and Target.

I am still a supporter and subscriber to Amazon Prime. Living in a larger city as I do (Las Vegas) most times my free 2-day Prime shipping is a one day arrival and even on Saturdays I receive my stuff from Amazon via 2-day Prime shipping. Lately I have discovered there is fresh grocery delivery available here in 'Sin City' and I have scheduled to start home delivery next week. It is affordable and allows me to get fresh produce and meats not available from Amazon. As a senior that chooses not to drive nor fight traffic, fight store customers with long check-out lines I can now get 100% of my shopping done by combining Amazon Prime with Von's (Safeway products) grocery delivery. FYI for homebodies and caregivers too.

I really like the idea that everything arrives in 2 business days... I always seem to wait until the last minute. And, I don't have to spend time figuring out shipping costs. For this simplification you do pay... for instance, I just looked at a product that was not prime for $10.50 and free shipping (5 biz day); however, another vendor had it available for $15.89 via Prime (2 day). Bottom line? It's easy and faster; but, not necessarily cheaper.

I myself have a kindle white, got 1 for each of my 2 daughters for christmas. One of my daughters wanted me to get Prime, she thought she would have access to free books in the lending library. 1 per month will not cut it for us. I don't care about the shipping, the regular free shipping has always worked for me!! I just make sure I get all my items at once to meet the $25. Streaming movies, I have netflix, hbogo, maxgo, epix, and others, why would I need to pay for more? I was hoping there would be merchandize discounts, then maybe it would be worth it. From reading all over the net, Prime is really no big deal. If amazon adds more value like unlimited access to lending library with great books, then, it might be better. If they offered special discounts on merchandize then possibly. Now with tax added on, I tend to search the net for sites that don't charge tax and have free shipping.

If all you do with Prime is watch several movies a week, is Prime worth it?

Probably not (especially if you can put up with something like Crackle). But if you have a Kindle, it may be worth it for the books too, and spread it out to multiple people.

Someone else may be able to take advantage of the speedy delivery! (But proximity to the warehouses counts too...)

Every movie worth watching costs money AFTER I have already paid for a Prime membership. It's a ripoff. If I pay a fee, streaming should be included, like Netflix.

Of course, you know they're not gonna let you see the "good stuff",i guess they figure that they're offering 2 day shipping & free music, you should just shut your mouth and be satisfied ! I personally will NEVER join prime, i bought some things from instant video and that's only because i could download my purchase but now that the unbox is leaving Mar,29,2015 i'm not buying a damn thing from instant video....i pay to OWN not just to WATCH.

Bought Amazon prime for quick shipping. Turns out that two days is more like a week. Or more.
Cancelled prime today. Wish it had lived up to its hype.
