Tennessee Williams Memoir. He had me laughing. I read it 3 times, but it's been a long time since.

Attention: People on this Forum. Joyce Bacon is a false name used by a spammer and lurker in your thread, using your good thread to promote her own book. Please boycott her project and report her abuse when she posts her false claims. She is posing as somebody who has written this book, and enjoyed the read, when in fact she herself is the author of the book. I have come here from another
Amazon thread to give you a heads up. We have chased her out there. Please do the same.

Richard Rhodes' A Hole in the World: An American Boyhood is a moving account of he and his brother being taken from his irresponsible, abusive parents and raised in a Kansas City orphanage, where both boys prosper. It's also superbly written, and one of the best autobiographies I've read. Rhodes won the Pulitzer Prize for non-fiction in 1988 for The Making of the Atomic Bomb.

Damaged by Cathy Glass was really engrossing. Fast read, very moving. She has some others I plan to read. P.S. you're not listening by Eleanor Craig was really, really good, although not about foster care, but about troubled children.

Ever read the trilogy by Dave Pelzer, A Child Called It, The Lost Boy and A Man Named Dave? A Child Called It is his first book of the trilogy, about a child who suffered brutality by his sadistic mother, who called him "It". The second book, I believe, goes more into his life in foster care. I highly recommend these.

Another, Deliver Me From Evil by Alloma Gilbert. The author's foster mother was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Finally, Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls, is one of the best memoirs I have read. It's not about foster care though. It was one of those books that I couldn't put down.

Faith of Cranes: Finding Hope and Family in Alaska

A great new memoir just came out of Alaska about loving the natural world as it is slipping away. Filled with the natural history of sandhill cranes.

Foster Care Odyssey: A Black Girl's Story by Theresa Cameron. Touching, riveting. One of my all time favorites. Highly recommend.
Hope's Boy by Andrew Bridge. About a young boy growing up in foster care. Quite good, absolutely unforgettable. Worth the read.
* Have several other favorite "memoirs" but these ^ are definitely related to foster care.

My mother was abandoned in an orphanage at 4, and at 14 was sent to live with a family as 'Haustochter' - a bit like an au paire but permenant. This might interest you.

The Lady is a Stripper by Dusty Summers. Dusty and her sister lived in foster homes in Phoenix, Arizona due to extreme physical and mental abuse by their father. Dusty entered foster care at age 14.
I recommend the book because I wrote it. Foster care gave me a whole different outlook on life . . . I ran away from home after a particularly savage beating from my father. I can honestly say that life began for me when I entered foster care. Although I have made many mistakes in life, it has been one helluva adventure!

Chili Pimping in Atlantic City: The Memoir of a Small-Time Pimp....This is my book. It is a good read. It is not for everyone to be honest. It's about me, one of the most corrupt Police Officers in the history of New York City. If you like true crime/non-fiction you should give me a try.
