It's Road to Perdition, hands-down! I can't remember when I've seen so much noise in the image.

What's wrong with John Carter? I have it on BD and think it looks really fine. What are your complaints with the picture quality?

I don't know, I just think that "John Carter" could look a lot sharper than it does. The CGI just seems like it has some soft blurring only moderately better than DVD, I guess.

And I'll agree with Kevin T. too on some of the scenes from "Clash of the Titans" (1981). All the Zeus scenes are poorly defined. And a few others.

And also, if you watch "Time Bandits" some scenes are mastered very well, but there are scenes that also look rather softly blurred by comparison.

Really? Basically every review I have ever seen gives this just shy of perfect (4.5 out of 5) on the video transfer mentioning except for a few minor nitpicks it is true to its original film presentation.

I can't speak to the reviews, but I've accurately reported what I've seen. I have hundreds of blu-ray discs, and Road to Perdition has the most image noise of any of them. Rent this one before you purchase it; I wish I had!

28 days later was initially shot in standard definition video cameras. so there is nothing the studio could do about it's transfer.

I got a copy of the PS3 game "Stranglehold" which is a "sequel" to Hard Boiled. I had the Special Edition which also had "Hard Boiled" on it. It claimed to be in HD and 5.1 surround sound. However, it clearly was just SD dubbed to an HD tape. The sound had 5.1 channels, but all of them were empty/silent except the center speaker. It was mono sound. Also, they had the wrong sound track that was from the re-mastered version. So the sound effects and dialogue kept going in and out of sync. And I don't mean just rubbery of a few frames. I mean by a second or more. Sometimes it was early, other times it was on, and sometimes it was late. Sometimes it was just SFX, other times it was just dialogue. And at times it was both. It was completely unwatchable.

I also bought TR 2012 and had lip sync issues but no drop out. I've also read that other owners of this BD have had similar issues to us. If you set your Bluray player to PCM under sound settings (and your Surround receiver to PCM) that will solve the problem. But ultimately thats not the point and it should work via bitstream. Probarbly best to take it back and get a replacement. I think Sony dropped the ball on this one. FYI Check on Blu-ray.com, there is a thread about it. Loads of people have had problems.

thanks again bourne1886..

I was also less than spectacularly impressed with the sharpness and 3d quality of 'John Carter'. It just seemed a bit soft. I had, however, just seen 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter', so I'm quite spoiled by the superior 3d and image quality.

Carrie, I gave my DVD copy to my sister after getting the Blu-ray now I regret it... it looked better upscaled on DVD than the Blu-ray transfer.

Sucks to hear Porky's is that bad. It's one of my all time favorites that I waited to hit blu ray for a long time and was hoping for a trilogy box set. Oh well.

I cast my vote for Van Wilder.
I was very dissappointed with the PQ. It's basically an audio upgrade only.
